PPL have gotten some small but real numbers with a simple grounding kit.

Seems to work well on all G35 and 350Z effect is small but real and kit is not expensive.

Reflash ECU from Technosquare is supposed to allow the engine to produce power a little better.

Crawford plenum would also be another decent mod for not too much money.

I hate to sound like a troll (please correct me if Im wrong)... But I believe the VQ is highly over rated from the factory....

I saw first hand Darren's modded G35 run a 194 at the wheels... What do they advertise..... 280hp? 290? With 25% drivetrain loss, that would mean @ 280 advertised (crank) HP they should run about 210 RWHP... I cant recall what darren had done to his G, but it was enough to convince yourself that its not really what they say... Subtracting the drivetrain loss, Darrin's G35 should be running around 250 at the crank, at 25% (maybe closer to 30% with big wide tires)..

Another fine example is the Q... They run 278 advertised HP (at 25% drivetrain loss, 210 RWHP), but we see them run about 230ish (on a really good one, most are old by now)... That would mean they run about 287 crank HP, and thats close (they under rated them a little)

So my point for saying this is..... When people do mods and then become disappointed because theyre RWHP numbers arent right, its because they've started with over rated HP numbers to begin with.....

Remember the phrase... Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races...

280 HP is the rating on the current G35 Coupes. The Sedans, including the AWD version have 260 HP. Secondly, 25% drivetrain loss would seem fairly high. Most cars are anywhere from 15-20%. The AWD G might see a bit more drivetrain loss depeding on the torque split, but 35% might even be fairly high for that as well.

I think most stock G35 Coupes are pulling about 230-245 HP. And of course there can be a lot of factors that cause the different outputs. Everything from the weather, altitude, and even to the type of dyno used.

My 04 5AT sedan pulled 213whp/209wtq with z-tube and 7-wire grounding kit.

Right after me stock 350z auto pulled 227/223.Auto G35 coupe with i/e pulleys put down 232/227.

So go figure.

Since than I put y-pipe on and G-tech now shows 223/218wtq and sweet 6.17 sec 0-60 with 2 people and full tank, no powerbrake and VDC on.

Wes, Darrin's G was tested with a load. If you take the load off then he would have hit aroung the 230-240hp mark at the rear. The mods on his car at the time i believe were exhaust, injen intake and grounding gear. He also dropped the stock wheels for some big chrome wheels which i am sure wighed quite a bit more than the stock wheels. All in all, I think that his results were pretty well on line with what the VQ was rated.

I was just going to say it had to have been tested under load. These cars are putting down good numbers.

It would be more than unwise to publish optimistic numbers. Eventually someone would figure it out and next thing you know, a manufacturer is facing a class-action lawsuit. Didn't it happen to Jaguar or some other high-price marque recently?

Well I think it was the Mazda RX8. Their numbers were much higher than what the car actually dyno'ed at. They offered everyone who bought the car their money back if they didn't want to keep it because of the drastic difference in hp from what they advertised. IIRC there was a logical explanation as to the difference though, something to do with using the Wankel engine.
