Yeah, seems odd. If you're averaging 25 MPG, 15.9 gallons will yield nearly 400 miles to empty - that's pretty impressive range. Filling up with 2 gallons remaining would still net you 350 miles @ 25 MPG.RyleyinSTL wrote:In my opinion the 3 minutes it takes to fill the tank would be much more palatable than the cost of expanded fuel capacity.
so you think if you doubled your tank, you would get double the mileage? wrong. here is why: dont forget that a gallon of fuel weighs between 5.87 to 6.5 pounds. so lets just use 6lbs as the middle number. so if the tank holds 15.9, and the fuel in the lines/filter/rail/injectors makes it an equal 16gallons = thats 96lbs in fuel.fasttrack1015 wrote:I was wondering if there was any way of increasing the factory 15.9 gallons fuel tank to something bigger? may be by having an additional attachment or a replacement bigger gas tank?
Rogue One, we're on the wrong post...Rogue One wrote:At least one Rogue owner has managed to drive 500 miles on one tank. The farthest I've gone so far is 379 miles, using just under 13gal. (12.59), averaging 30.1mpg. So far I've filled up my tank 64 times. On 22 of those, I recorded getting 28mpg or better.
Naw, just trying to show what the Rogue is capable of. Those stats were for my 2011 Rogue. The 2012 hasn't had as many long distance trips has the '11, so the mileage isn't a good.CapeCodChips wrote:Rogue One, we're on the wrong post...
You're getting 28mpg roughly 1/3rd of the time, what's your lifetime mpg?
My 2014 AWD: 54 fillups, 7 times over 28mpg (my last 2 fillups were 30.2 and 30.98- highest ever)
7/54 = 13%
My lifetime mpg is 24.86. At 90% highway.
Most miles on a tank was 394, 14 gal, 28.14mpg
When do I get my avatar?

if you wanted to add another 10 gallons = 60lbs. that would be 156lbs total in fuel.
if you wanted to add another 15.9 gallons = 95.4lbs. that would be 191.4lbs total in fuel.
while you might think your range would increase, in reality it probably would enough to offset the cost of the fuel/install. the added weight would begin to weigh down the car.
if you had a pickup truck, i'd say get the tank installed in the bed:
