Okay, i'll get right to it. I bought an NA about a month ago and was told that the rear output shaft seal was oozing gear oil slowly and that it needed to be replaced. I went to Advance Auto Parts and picked up one of the two they had on file, but it turned out to be for an automatic transmission and was much too small. Long story short i found one with the same outside diameter as the old seal and me and my friend replaced it, and it seemed to do the trick. Today i did an oil change and out of curiosity i stuck my finger in the metal coupling and gear oil was gathered up :tisk: what i need to find is the correct size seal. One thing i think is causing the trouble in locating the right size is the car does have a one-piece aluminum driveshaft. not sure what brand. if anyone has any insight or experience in what size seal i need it will be much appreciated. For now, I'll be regularly topping off the trans lol.

For a manual transmission, there is only one size seal. I would get it from Nissan to ensure it's the right size. Especially since you have gotten a few that are the wrong size already. Having a one piece drive shaft will have no effect on the seal size. The only thing is either a manual or automatic.

okay i will head over there next chance i get and see what they have. I was told that the transmission (as well as engine) were replaced. If the transmission is JDM would that have any effect on the size of the output shaft seal? Or does that not matter?

thanks for the timely response by the way

No difference between JDM and USDM as far as output shaft or seal.
