I have a 2016 Nissan Altima S.

I get the “incorrect key ID” notification when I try to start the car.

It says touch key to start button, I do it, dashboard beeps, and I’m prompted to press break and start car…

I press the break, touch the key to the button, press in, the car starts to turn…then stops and the “incorrect key ID” message pops up again.

Everywhere else I see people having this issue, the problem is solved by touching the key to the button, but im at a lost.

I’ve also changed the keys battery, tried the back up key (with the same results), and I tried disconnecting the negative battery cable on the car to “reset the system”, none of that worked.

I reached out to a locksmith that wouldn’t even come out, they said I should go to the dealer.

Also spoke to a trusted mechanic that talks me out of spending money all the time. He said only the dealer can help if touching the key to the button didn’t work.

I have an appointment with the dealer on Wednesday but I still wanted to get some other opinions

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide 🙏🏾
