Incorrect fuel tank size listed

During my last few fillups, I ran the tank to near empty (by accident) I noticed It took 56 L to fill empty tank and the low fuel light just came on (2 bars still registered on the gauge). OMG was I that low?

The Owners Manual, the Nissan USA website and Nissan Canada website list the capacity as:

15.9 US gal or 60 Litres

The tank appears to be slightly larger. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've noticed that the last quarter of the gauge is not very linear. I have only run mine once to the point that the indicator was telling me that I only had 40 miles til empty. If the tank size is correctly posted, I would have had almost 2 gallons left. This is more that 40 miles by my highway mpg calculations.

I've been averaging 24 miles highway with only 1000 miles and winter blend.

I noticed this when I was in the states last month I put in 16 US gallons and I still hade to bars on the gas gauge.

I found something else... the FSM lists the fuel tank capacities for models destined for Mexico. They show a larger 17.2 gal or 65 litre tank. Curious.

I'm not sure the pumps are always accurate. I know they are supposed to be checked periodically but there's a station near where I live that always seems to have the lowest price per gallon, but it always seems to take a little more gas to fill the car at that station.

Yep I am sort of curious myself. Filled her up today with I believe 3 bars left. Took 57 liters with 463 km. According to the trip comp I still had 70km dte. Does this mean the tank is larger than the 59liters???

Either that or the gas gauge measures wrong. I'm not going to the run the tank dry to find out though! I would safely say the tank capacity is somewhere around 65 litres. However, it is better to fill up long before you get to empty.

There is a filter screen on the pump and a fuel filter so you shouldn't worry about 'sucking' dirt into the motor. However the fuel does cool the pump and continuously running the tank to empty could cause the pump to overheat and shorten it's life.

Each time i fill up my car, I'm only getting 12 or 13 Gal of gas going in...
