For the longest time, I had a probelm with my clutch consistantly engageing at the top of the pedal throw(at full release only). I thought it was a hydraulic problem so I replaced the MC and the slave, bled it alot, then went driving. Same thing. So then I tried to adjust the redal rod, this helped a good bit, as it was then grabbing at about 1.5 to 2 inches of the floor board. But then a new problem started--the pedal would grab as it should when first cranked for the day, like in the morning. it would grab right of the floor board for about 10 miles worth of driving. Then, if stopped, it would start to grab about midway and get to about almost the top of the pedal throw(full release). If I pump the clutch a few times while in neutral--- rolling or whatever, then try to engage the clutch again, itll grab where its supposed to--right off the floor board. I begab to think it was the clutch disk itself--it was an act street disk--but it had about 70k on it, and it was time to replace it im usre. I put in a spec stg 3 4 puck sprung disk and a fidanze fly wheel. It grabbed pretty good at first, its kinda an on/off switch--which is cool with me--i like the engagement--but then it seems as though the clutch wants to start the same crap on me--its getting pretty aggrevating--and im thinking that theres air in the line or something, regargless of how much i bled it. It seems like the clutch, while not slipping at all--wants to enagage as though its kinda inconsistant. It grabs good, but not like the on/off switch its supposed to be.

Whats the best route for bleeding the clutch system?Also---what other problems could be? The cluch mc and slave are pretty new, the cltucha dn fly are new, and the pedal is adusted right(as far as I know)

I had the SAME exact problem as you, and also did the same things as you. First I replaced my master and slave cylinders, nothing, bled, nothing, a new Clutch Masters Stage 1 Clutch Kit, nothing. Hmm, i didnt adjust the pedal cuz i knew the variation with grabbing would be bad when its cold. Enough of my boring story, bypass the clutch dampener, it is the cause of your hell. Bypass it and then bleed the system, i bet money on it it'll solve your problem, cuz it solved mine. I think the dampener is messed up, stopping it from being bled properly, the air in the lines is being affected by heat (thats why in the morning the car seems fine, until the engine heats up, and the air in the line expands. Hope that helps.

What happens is that the dampener will retain pressure to allow for easily depressing the clutch. If it becomes faulty it will continue to build pressure every time you press in the clutch. This will lead to a point where the clutch is engaged all the time and you can't shift in or out of the gear, or in your case you get pedal engagement movement cause of the pre-pressure in the line, but it's still bleeding down the pressure to the point it will still allow clutch movement.

sorry--guess i should have added that--ive already done the whole dampener bypass thing. That was done about 2 mos ago--its helped out a good bit witht he consistancy--but not all the way--im still getting that vague feel that doesnt really allow me to "feel" when the pedal is going to grab---basically--i dirve like a someone getting used to a new pedal --but all the time simply because the pedal engagment is always different depending on how ive driven, how long ive been driving, stop and go--or highway--whatever--the pedal never wants to grab at the same damn spot--im about to freak. This is getting REALLY irritating.any other ideas?--what about bleeding again and again? Im just worried that i may be burning up a new clutc cuase of ****ty engagement/disengagement. Shifting isnt difficualt or anything like that--im just having a time with the pedal feel--it just doesnt feel "consistant"

I have the same problem and I have all new hydraulics and removed the dampener and tha clutch isnt that old either. I'd kinda like to find a reason why myself..........

IM thinking that the clutch system has air in it--its a very small amount of air in it--but enough to move back and forth in the lines causeing the inconsistant engagment in the pedal.Im going to have someone vaccum bleed it and check the system--probably a transmission shop or something of the like thats used to fixing transmission related problems. When syaing all of this--id liek to clear this up--the clutch does NOT slip one bit--but just grabs at different points of the pedal throw--just depending on its "mood" i guess----
