Hi all,

Well, I left the dorm this afternoon to go get a few things from the store, so I made the 5 minute walk down to the stadium lot to get my car. Get to my car, start it up, and start cleaning the snow off of it, and as I come back to the rear of the car, I noticed that some very inconsiderate and extremely irresponsible jerk had hit my car, not caring to leave a note or anything. Well, I'm Irish, and to say my temper is any less than such would be very wrong, so I immediately start going insane, and saying a lot of vulgars things, et cetra, et cetra . . . after all is said and done, I got the police to come, look at it, and now I have an incident number and report, but whoever it is gets off without any fear or reprecusions whatsoever (big campus, 25,000 students, to find their car is like looking for a needle in a haystack). I'm going to get an estimate probably Tuesday, but considering I don't know the body shops down here too well, it's probably going to have to wait until Spring Break to get fixed. That said, I took a few pics with my cell phone (so they suck), but if any of you can comment on if you've ever had to deal with this crap, and how much it set you/your insurance company robbers back, I'd appreciate it.

Damn man, you got the taillight too . . . makes me wish I had a security system that would literally kill the fool who comes within 2 feet of my car. Good luck with it man . . . best of luck in catching the bastard.

Looks like they left some of their paint behind(dunno what your under-coat color was). That should help narrow it down quite a bit. Also keep a mental note of the height of the highest/lowest impact points... this'll help to eliminate some vehicles you see (rather than examining *every* car you pass).

HTH, sorry about your misfortune.-Jamie

Well, you said you live in the dorms right? So, most schools have parking just for people who live there. And that might help you narrow down the cars because that might mean the person who hit your car lives in those dorms. Sorry about the car.

Nope, no cameras, and extremely limited security . . . and even though there are some very clear indicators as to who might have hit the car, there are so many cars on campus that could fit the description of the car that hit mine, it would be virtually impossible to find it. I walked around with a police officer to look for "suspects", but there really weren't any. Makes me pissed to say I go here, I would think people at a college would have at least some concept of morality/responsibility. Alas, that isn't the case . . . thanks for the comments/ideas.

the same thing happened to me about a week ago. someone backed into my car while parked. however, unlike most hits, the person stayed around to find the owner (me).

she took out the left rear tail light and pushed the bumper in. looks like the metal framing that the light mounts to got slightly pushed in.

Gee that looks familiar.

Someone hit my car in the passenger side fender and door while I was on campus. (One week after I got my car back from getting it painted.) This was about 6 months ago and I still haven't replaced it. I just took a chunk of wood and bent it out so I could open my door. Now it looks like crap.

I would have felt better if someone left a note saying they were sorry!

College parking lots are the worst. I HATE taking my car to school because people are always standing around it, and people don't respect other people's cars.

So, for spring quarter I'm riding my motorcycle full time. Cheaper parking, better fuel economy, and up front parking spots.

i always feel uncomfortable parking my car in a spot with parking to both the left and right...normally ill park next to a handicap spot, but im lazy so id rather be in the middle and be close, then be away from everyone but have to walk...haha same applies to school also.

inconsiderate people ****ing suck....

btw i saw kamikazestorm's dent....****in sucks

It sucks. It's happened to me twice (I guess expected over 9+ years of owning the car). It had many bumper and bruises before it was killed.

Once was in my parking lot at work (Harris Teeter), someone saw the car. It hit my rear quarter behind driver door ($1600 in damage). Called cops for hit and run, I ended up seeing a car of the discription parked behind my work. Saw my paint in the chrome bumper. 16 yr old I worked with hit me. Felony hit an run on him.

Second was at other job (Bar), came out at 3am and someone had hit my driver's side rear tailight area (believe about $350 damage). Had to replace taillight and rework the piece between bumper and taillight. Never caught them.

Yeah, it still upsets me to think about it, not so much because of the damage, but because the person who did it was such an *** that he or she didn't think it was their responsbility to take care of their mistake. I haven't seen a white car with any front end damage that would corrolate with the damage to my car, yet, and even if I did find one, it would be hard to prove it at this point. So, back to me being screwed with this car, as is all too common, heh. Thanks for the advice/comments/stories guys . . . my sympathies to anyone who has had to deal with this stuff.
