I have a 1990 240sx coupe with a ca18det swap metric gauges which worked fine up until recently. The tach showed true until recently and it started jumping on me and shooting to redline, the really messed up thing is that my 97 200sx se-r just started doing the same thing. Im just curious if anybody else has experienced this and how to go about fixing it. Any and all help/pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks, Anthony

dirty injectors or a messed tps can cause fluctuation of idle.
so can carbonized spark plugs

Tack is jumping, not idle. I would clean the connections on the cluster, the grounds, and the tach signal wire connection.

Had a similar issue in my CRX, turned out to be a bad engine ground.
