The 02 is at Atlantic Infiniti for it's 15000 mile service and they are supposed to be performing the ECU upgrade. I can't wait to feel the results. I am hoping it will stop the delay I notice when I apply throttle to the car. I have also noticed a delay in down shifting from the auto transmission when passing.

I picked her up during rush hour and didn't get much chance to try things out. The throttle tip in seems to be better and I managed to force a downshift one time and that was quicker. So far, so good. I'll know a lot better tommorrow when I get a chance to drive her on an open road.

OK, I have driven her all weekend and am very pleased with the difference. It seems like the car is now taking full advantage of its HP & TQ. The transmission definitely sfifts with more authority and crispness. The throttle tip in is much quicker and the car is just a lot more fun to drive. If you have an 02 Q, you need to get this done.

This is a must. I think I was the first to have this done and have been telling everyone I can about it.

It turns the car into the beast it should have been. The car is on steroids now and feels like 340hp!

Can you get an ECU upgrade at any Infiniti Dealership?

It is an ITB from Infiniti that involves replacement of the gas pedal and an upgrade to the ecu. Check with your dealer about ITB 2048. It should be done under warranty to any 02 Q45.

I have my appointment for Wednesday....I'll be doing driver's side doors adjustments, rear sunshade and 2048 (hopefully). My service guy wasn't really aware of it over the phone, so I'll let you all know how this turns out. Can't wait!!

My dealer wasn't familiar either. They just went online to Infiniti and got all the info.

Just wondering, What does this problem involve? Are all 02 Q's affected by it?

Thanks! My 02 Q is actually in the shop getting a teflon coating on it right now! I'll tell them about this and see what they say.

Are the 02 and 03 Q's identical? I just realized this however funny it may be....but they said my Q was an 03 and that upgrade didn't apply to it.

OK guys... I left my car in service this morning, so look out for performance reviews after the weekend.

Anyway...here's how it went this morning:

Besides the ITB 2048 issue, I took the car in for adjustments to both driver side doors that need some extra force for complete closing. The service guy showed me that the cabin is sealed so tight, when you leave one door open, all other doors close perfectly. I'm not really convinced. Can anybody out there confirm this?

On the ITB 2048, he wasn't aware of it, but he called in the shop foreman (apparently 1 of 7 Master Infiniti technicians in Florida) who was obviously aware of it.

Now... he told the service guy to write it up as:

a) Customer states vehicle has poor acceleration, andb) Customer states poor acceleration when downshifting at 40 MPH.

Apparently, if you don't write up both, you only get the accelerator pedal upgrade. At least, this is what I was led to believe. Oh, and I left them Jason's article and they were going to copy it for all their service people (Thanks for the tip, J)

By the way, I got a G35 loaner....wow... that tiptronic rocks. This is one powerful baby!!! I can't imagine this beast with the manual 6.

Back on Monday with upgrade results.

Yes, that is all correct. Thanks for getting the word out.

I will tell you this, I had a g35 loaner as well when I had this work being done and was very impressed with the crisp shifting/power of this car. I was almost wishing the Q felt the same.

After I got my Q back, it now feels and shifts like the G! I'm telling you it's like a new car!

I was talking to a guy who's wife has a FX45, and he has a new Q. He said he took the FX out on the weekends more than the Q, because it felt more powerful and fun to drive. After he got the upgrade done to his Q, he said he will no longer be taking her car on the weekends!

I hope the magazines test the car again to see the real beast hiding beneath the hood.
