Like the post says, i need some advice on what offsets will fit well on my z. i did SEARCH like always, but i was unsuccessful. well, first things first, does anyone know the stock offset of the 18x8 inch z wheels, i believe it would be a helpful starting point. next, what is the smallest offset on say.. an 8.5 up front and 9.5 rear, i can run without rolling my fenders?

thank you for any help.

o .. and just curious, but rim width DOES affect offset, right?

I know i already posted a question about aftermarket wheel sizes but i also have a question about offset. First i dont really get how it is determined. Also i was thinking of upgrading my 06 Z's 18 inch wheels to some more agressive 19 inch ones, with this i was thinking of going with one of these tire combinations eather a (Front: 245/35R19 Rear:285/35R19) set up or a (Front: 245/35R19 Rear:275/35R19) Does anyone know what the offset would be for eather one of these setups or any other information i should know?

my understanding is very vague when it comes to offests on a z. i know my 240sx inside and out due to trial and error, +25 is a very good offset for a 7 inch rim on the 240 because the 205 40 16 tire is just 1/8 of an inch from tuching the stock (non rolled or pulled) fenders, but that is very different. the offset on a stock z's rim may be between +35 and +40 and i think +20 on a rim that is 9.5 wide can be run without touching the tire to the stock fenders but im not shure, and that is why i made this forum:to find somene who has allredy gone theough the trial and error process and can give some helpful advice.

So would the offset stay at 30+ then even for one of those different wheel and tire sets or would it need to change?

make sure your offset is +30mm and the tire combo will fit a 9 inch width wheel in front and a 10 inch width wheel in back. the 285's will be stretching it though, I have 265/35/19's and it is flush.

We race on Enkei 18 x 9 fronts and 18 x 10 rears with spacers and we use Kumho 710 285/30 18" tires and have pleanty of clearance. We like the Enkei wheels because either wheel weights less than 19#'s and they are strong. We have used them for 3 years and run about 8 Nationals a year plus the runoffs. Look at http://www.enkei.com and you can see what they make. We can get you 15% off if your interested. Bob

Hey Bob thanks for the info, Im pretty new to "the world of wheels" and all so what is a spacer? I guess my whole goal in everything is to get a really good wheel and tire combo that makes my Z look even more agressive without throwing something off in the future i dont want to have to deal with all the trouble that ends up bringing. But im not really going for a track car so im a little less conserned with weight and all at the moment, although i know i deffinatly want to say around or maybe even a little below the stock wheel weight. With this also i do care about looks a bit which is why i am thinking more in the range of a 19 inch wheel. Do you have any sugestions along these terms that will make my 06 Z look great while still avoiding any annoying problems down the road?

U can go on tirerack.com. They have a pretty good system that lets you put in your vehicles make and model. It lists wheels that would fit plus the offsets.

Ok i think i pretty much have all the info i need on the subject but the last thing i was wondering is when you say that your runnin a tire that is 265 wide what do you mean by 285's might be pushing it? Do you mean that it will stick out to much from the fender?

Well from what my buddy at the tire shop says is that the 265 is flush with the wheel, which means it fits the wheel correctly, a 285 may hang a bit over the inside lip of the wheel and therefore cause it to be a bit wider, mine fits flush to the fender, but there is a small bit of room if you get a deeper offset wheel it could accommodate the 285 without looking stupid. I dont see the need for that wide a tire because you will only be laying about 1/4 inch more per tire on the ground. Hardly enough to pay more for that. Plus if you would see the difference between the stock Z wheels in width and mine from the rear of the car then you can see exactly how much more the 265 is than stick, Let us know which wheels you get.

Sounds good an thanks for all the info it really did help. I Might hold off a bit till it gets closer to summer time but when i do decide to get something ill be sure to post some pics. The reason i was thinking about gettin somethin that wide was to look as agressive as possible because whenever i see a car with really wide tires i think it looks really cool, also the increas in handeling is a pluse and i was also thinking about getting it to hang a bit over the wheel so i could protect it a little bit. But i really like your car it looks great if you ever get a chance you should post some more pics of it in the forum were people post pics of there Z's, Because yours looks great.
