in the market for a 2003 m45

Thinking of retiring my ole' 2000 q45 and getting a 2003 M I saw locally.

Are there any telltale signs of VK45 oil consumption issue? Any wall to tell, or is buying one of these cars just a roll of the dice?

Was also considering a 2004-6 Q, so same question stands...

There aren't any telltale signs of oil consumption on these vehicles. You should just expect the some degree (in some cases a lot) of oil consumption with the VK45DE engine. Just let the potential buyer know that you're aware of oil consumption issues with the M45/Q45 and ask them to let you know how many quarts their car burned every 3-5k miles.

Well that sucks! Guess I'll check out the car anyway, but if I'm going to spend $10,000 don't wanna roll the dice. It's a dealer, so unless there are service records I don't have any information.
