...I pulled the banstick on one of our more outspoken members (The Wicker Man).

While I don't normally feel the need to explain myself or my actions, I was certain he (and maybe others) might cry "foul" and see it as simple disagreement with his point of view.

I'm always a little suspicious when someone alleges to be "new" but then makes posts that indicate they know some history here, especially when they include bogus info in their profile to conceal their identity.

However, his AIM name (gelo3453) in the profile field of his first failed attempt to create a new username (Hancock3457) was a pretty obvious clue - He made the mistake of contacting me under that name in November 2007 to whine about his treatment on the board and threaten to create multiple accounts.

Therefore, the trigger has been pulled. Sorry guys, but one thing I can't stand is someone who lies and then pulls the "censorship" or "mistreatment" card.

I want to publicly thank you and the other forum administrators for the diligence and hard work you all put in here. We may not agree on a lot of political issues, and we may get a little heated at times, but you have been exceptionally fair from my vantage point. You all do a heck of a job in a tough position and it is very appreciated.

I need to make it VERY clear that this would have happened even if I didn't disagree with his position.

The harassing IM messages back in November, the multiple accounts created, and the "I'm a n00b here" claim made the decision very simple.
