China....listen to its citizens? Have you gone mad? Seriously though, they keep such tight ropes on the internet because they know eventually it will be the largest player in the demise of their current regime. How long that will continue to play out I dont know.

In reality, except for limits on dissent, China is very responsive to the desires of its citizens. A satisfied populace is a populace that isn't likely to shoot you in the head.

Well you said except for limits regarding dissent, that China is good to its citizens. Since they are strictly banned from internets I would assume this was done on assumption that internets was strictly for dissent purposes.
