I just picked up a set of 450cc dsm injectors for the s13. Now I know it's not required that I get these flow matched/cleaned, but is recommended before I run them. I've already ordered new o-rings for the install so that's covered. I'm just curious if there's a way to maybe clean the injectors myself. I'm just really wanting to get the car running correctly. At the moment it's running 42-43lbs of fuel going through the stock injectors to compensate and running good AFR's but I'd rather just get the 450's on it as that's what the tune it has it set for.

On a side note I am having hard start problems. The car takes a good 5 minutes of cranking before it starts, but when it starts it's completely fine. My timing is dead on. It is very possible I have vacuum leaks. The car doesn't act as if the head gasket is blown, no milky oil or anything weird. I've researched the problem and a lot of sources state that the CTS can cause hard to start problems. Here's the thing, when I drive the car it runs fine except for a high idle, but the temp gauge will fluctuate. The CTS was only $6 so I went ahead and ordered it just to go ahead and replace it, but any other ideas are welcomed!

Thanks guys,

Sky

Did you check your ecu to see if it have any stored codes? Don't know where you bought coolant temperature sensor for $6 at, but they cost a little more than that. You sure you didn't purchase the coolant temperature sender (also called a CTS)? Is the connector on properly for your coolant temperature sensor? More questions..........

Do a compression check. My 180 was hard to start just like that. It was getting oil up onto the walls of the low cylinder that would allow it to finally kick over. After that, it ran pretty well.

I work at a VW/Audi specialist shop and we get discounts on car parts. That's how I managed to get it so cheap. The connector for the CTS is on properly. Also I can't check codes with my current ecu as it has a port cut out for the nistune. I'm looking for an ecu to play with locally to check the codes. I'll do a compression check when I get some more time to play with it. I also forgot to mention last night that the entire cold idle system isn't hooked up. The IACV is connected but I stuck a bolt in the end of the hose that attaches to the intake coldpipe just to get the car running. It's probably something stupid causing this, but I'm always open to suggestions and criticism. I am by no means illiterate when it comes to diagnosing problems. I just like to see if anyone has had similar problems so I can get through the process quicker.

If it does turn out to be a compression problem I will probably rip it apart and the car will sit a while longer. I was just wanting a simple turbo swap to get my other car running. The KA s*** a head on me and I found this motor for a decent price locally.

Also forgot to mention (thanks for scaring me with your talk of low compression): when the engine is being cranked over it will catch and make a sound as if it's starting but it won't fire. It will do this a few times and then eventually fire up like nothing is wrong. My friend is swearing up and down my starter is dying and I should just walk down to autozone, as if I could do that, and replace it. I know it's not the starter causing the problem.
