I have a 92 s13 with a red top that i put in and have been having problems with the car running. The car started 2weeks ago, and i went to start it the other day and it did not start. i have checked timing (x5), i have a new harness "wired up correctly", new ecu that was tested. I checked the ecu in diagnostics mode and it threw a code 55. all the fuses and relays are good. When the car was running it wouldnt rev past 2500RPMs. PLEASE HELP! thank you

Also what kind of problem would require a consult

Consult is just a scan tool used for Nissans. Code 55 is a code for everything is ok, which is for the most part normal. But like said before if you cant rev past 2500rpm it is most likely a MAF problem. A way to check it is to swap it out with a good one or I believe you can rewire a KA SOHC MAF to work. Maybe try unplugging the maf and try starting it, obviously it wont rev past 2500rpm with it unplugged but it might get it to start.

You have alot of variables that need to be narrowed down.

First, how did you check the timing without it running? Did you match the timing chain marks to the pulley or something?

Second, the "new" harness. Was this installed before or after the non-running condition?

Third, same question for the "new" ECU.

The MAF is always suspect number one whenever rev's are limited. You have to try a KNOWN working one in order to eliminate it from your list of possibilities. (Not sure what you mean by "tried the MAF")

Also for the sake of clarity, can you define "not start". Does it crank strong but not fire? Do you get nothing but a click-click-click when you turn the key? Do you get NOTHING (no sound ) when you turn the key?

Has this engine EVER run right for you? (this helps narrow it down to recent changes)

We need your valuable input to narrow this down.
