Better question, whats your realistic budget?

There are a LOT of variables.

well, here in Georgia, if you source all the parts, i got a friend who has done 25+ swaps, anywhere from SR's To 2J's and he charges 700 for the swap, and 300 for the wiring conversion, and 400 for a wire tuck.

your going to be looking at 10K plus to have an rb25 installed by a professional shop and also you wont pass smog in california with an rb25 240sx, and that is one of the reasons why i moved to missouri from socal cause of all the strict smog/modification laws california has

10k for a rb25?

are you crazy? its just a RB25 its not that hard.

expect about 5000 for a bare bones swap done at a shop. but yes, it will never be CARB legal in california.

Tell us how much you have to spend and we can tell if it's going to happen with the money you have.

+1 on doing it yourself, as long as you arent looking to rebuild, its not that difficult..

jsut do it ur self it not really hard.I did it for my first swap and im loving it,of course i got someone else to do the wiring not that i couldnt have did it myself but i just wanted it done and done right the first time so i recommend doing it urself and youll feel better about it in the longrun b/c you know what u have done to the car that way if somthing happens youll have a better idea on what it is.just my 2 cents though ive always been a big fan of doing it yourself.

+1 on doing it yourself youll save alot from doing it yourself instead of paying a shop. and the reason why i said around 10k was cause i never had a shop to do a swap for me so i didnt know how much they charge, but it all depends on what you do for upgrades and if you replace all the neccary parts like water pump, timing belt, idler and tensioner pulleys, clutch, slave cylinder, which mount kit and drive shaft you use etc. but the wiring is not as hard as you think it is if you have basic knowledge of wiring its not that hard. good luck though

lol if you cant do any of the replacements listed above, by HX nismo, then an engine swap is not for you, but if you can.. you can pretty much do it your self.. if you can take the KA out, you can put an RB right back in..

4-4500?

rb25 motor atleast 2500 shippedcustom mounts atleast 250drive shaft 300wiring service 300= 3350

labor 700? total = 4050

fuel pump + fpr = 150+Fmic =300+ or stock if it came with motorclutch =300timing belt, water pump, tensioner+idler =200 total= 950

misc itemsguages, boost/afr radiator hosescustom dpnew seals, list goes on all up to you

5g's minimal if you include labor just to get it started and running good.. so if you can do it all for under 4800 id say thats not a bad deal.. I would do a price check on all components required to do the swap then compare it to the person charging you to do it. good luck

< $4000 for basic rb25 swap. given that all works are DIY: weld up mounts or x-member, wiring, electronics, shaft.

it gets expensive when people get too creative and throw bunch of things on top.

and dont forget all the shipping on all those items cause to ship an rb25 motor and trans alone would be around $400 to ship and all the nickel and dime pieces add up

Just knock it out yourself. The money you save you can buy a fmic and a intake manifold prob. It's not that hard to do the swap. There is a guy in Banning that has a RB20 in his S13 you might want to hit him up. I'm not sure if he did the swap himself or not but if he did I'd start there.

okay so say if i did do it myself and got the wiring done and bought a driveshaft and bought custom mounts, front mount with piping....all the little things like boost gauge and so one...is it just plug and play from there???or do i need to do some cutting, welding, and hammering???

is this swap a plug and play swap if i have the parts needed???is so then ill just do it myself...

its not going to be 100% plug n play...

there are always going to be small problems that you are going to hitfor me i had to indent my firewall for the starter, harness splicing, trimming a bigger hole for intercooler piping, cutting some hoses to make the heater core/radiator hoses fit, and a custom downpipe since my steering column was in the way.

if youre worrying about the wiring and since youre in socal there some people like josh/otis from rbperformance like koukicody mentioned or nick/spencer from neotech
