I WAS PASSED ON A BEAUTIFUL 240 SX FROM MY FATHER WHICH I WOULD LIKE TO PASS ON TO MY CHILDREN. LOOKING FOR A GOOD TECH IN THE AREA TO GIVE THE VEHICLE A GOOD LOOK OVER. HAS 100,000 MILE RUNS GREAT BUT NEED TO KNOW WHAT SERVICES ARE NEEDED TO KEEP UP ITS PERFORMANCE. ANY ONE WITH SUGGESTIONS OR THAT ASSIST IN ANY WAY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. LOOKING TO START A PROJECT WITH IT AS WELL...

I'm in Poughkeepsie, work in Hawthorne. Just off the top of my head I would start with coilover suspension and wheels, full tuneup, change all fluids, then decide if you want to turbo existing engine or do an engine swap. Auto trans? Hatch or coupe?

You might want to work on your English/typing skills a bit. That was pretty tough to read and follow. Also, there's no need for posting in all caps.

If its a 94 then it must be a convertible. Has the transmission been swapped to a 5 speed yet? If not, that is the best thing you could ever do for that car.

Nope, I only wrench on my own car now. But I am full of shi...advice.

I would find a general mechanic that you know is good from personal reviews (my Mom goes to a guy who is excellent for routine stuff) and have them change the coolant, oil & filter, brake fluid, power steering fluid, diff fluid and transmission fluid (auto) or gear oil (manual).

Then a tune up - radiator hoses, belts, spark plugs, cap & rotor, plug wires, air filter, fuel filter. Plus an engine inspection to see if any vacuum line problems or exhaust/gasket/oil leaks are seen.

Coilovers are for 2 things - lower the car so it looks better and replace usually blown out stock struts & shocks. They are expensive ($500 used / ebay - $1200 for brand names) but don't bother with springs & shocks 'cause they will never get low enough to look good IMHO.

Post up your questions here, then you get more than one opinion.

Also search on Facebook groups for "NY NJ CT S13 240SX Silvia" and you will find a lot of good local groups and events.
