Hey guys, I have my motor swap almost all done and I need some advice. I had a 3" cat on my exhaust originally that I didn't know the stupid muffler shop welded to my nice brand new 3' cat back exhaust. So now I got a great deal on a Circuit Sports cat back exhaust and need a catalytic converter for it. I don't want a test pipe and am wondering if I should get the other cat cut off and have flanges welded on by ANOTHER shop or if I can buy a 3" cat somewhere that I can just bolt on? Anyone know where I can buy one? Every where I look I only find KA stuff. Your thoughts?

Dude no. I have the Circuit Sports 3' catback too. This exhaust is too nice to be welding sh*t like that on to it. Just go get another cat...

My previous exhaust was all welded up like what you're considering. It was such a b*tch and a half to take that thing off all as one piece. Bolt on cat FTW.

Yeah that's what I want is a bolt on one. I don't want another welded on piece of crap! All I find online is the KA ones and i want a one for the SR. If I use my old cat i will have a shop weld flanges on it so I can bolt it on. Thanks

I don't want to order one for the KA and find out its a smaller diameter or too short or something. I was thinking they were the same but if they were wouldn't after market ones say KA/SR catalytic converters?

OM3GA and Matt_240sx thanks for your invaluable contributions! :lolling:

Listen meow. The cats should be interchangeable. Meow, the reason most places don't have them listed as ka/sr is because the RWD SR isn't a USDM engine. Meow, I could be wrong, so just look into it is what I'm saying. Like simmode said, meow don't go welding things on to your new exhaust. if worst comes to worst, cut the cat off of your old exhaust and weld a flange onto it so that you can bolt it to your new exhaust. Understand meow?

Just to clear things up a bit, I do not want a catalytic converter welded on my exhaust! the previous shop welded on there with out my knowing. I went in with a new exhaust and asked for a three in Cat and they took it upon themselves to cut the flange of my new exhaust and weld the cat to it. Needless to say i was pissed when I found it some time later when I happened to be under the car.

So what I really want is a BOLT ON Catalytic Converter that I can just purchase out right and not worry if it going to fit right. If I can't find that then I will have the old cat cutt off and have flanges out on by a different shop so I can BOLT it on to my new exhaust. This thread is getting interesting; I ask for a cat and I get a lot of poo-C cats!!! :chuckle:

Ya as mentioned just get the one you have now cut the cat off weld some flanges on and save $$ for parts you need. If you already have it why spend more $$?
