To probably shead some light on situations like this...

Many retailers (and resalers) unfamiliar with RB engines that sell RB parts identify RB25 Series 2 engines to camshafts that are labled "Series 2".

The problem that exsist is that when a camshaft manufacturer (ie: Tomei) labled their camshafts "series 2" they ment for the 2nd style of cam angle sensor (CAS) that was used during the RB production period (re: R34 style Hitachi manufactured CAS or better known to the RB guys as the NEO style CAS).

The drives of the two CAS are different and thus require a different style camshaft.

There are other non-NEO RB25's that use this style CAS as well. Along with the R34 RB26's.

So in a nut shell... when purchasing camshafts its not based on the engine series but rather the cam angle sensor your engine is equipped with.

To clear up any confusion for those searching on this topic later...

I just checked mine, It doesn't say hitachi on it anywere, It looks like it has a mitsubishi logo on the center front and some numbers are etched in the side.
