Anyone installed the Nissan in mirror rearview monitor (link is here http://www.nissanusa.com/rogue/accessories.html)? I am looking to have this installed by the dealer but am not sure if it works well. The dealer quoted me $525 plus $200 for installation. Any thoughts?

I test drove S 360', which had that mirror, for two days before actually getting SL that didn't have the mirror. To me, it didn't make a whole lotta diferrence. Besides, I am so used to looking back that the camera felt like wearing a pair of new glasses. However, I might put in an aftermarket camera sometime in the future. but $525+$200 for that feature is no where near my comfort level.

An aftermarket wireless Parking camera costs around $70-$90.

Thanks ThandaPani - so you have seen the mirror in action? Did it give you a clear picture? I know the screen is small but I guess all i need to know is if there is anything behind the car and the distance when parking. Anyone else has any thoughts or experience with the mirror?

Also one stupid question - i assumed i don't need to purchase a camera, right?

I personally didn't find it that helpful, probably because, I am not used to it. The picture quality was great. It will take some time to get used to the sense of distance also. It gives you a side view mirror kinda feel when it comes to distance. It seemed on the picture that I have space, but in reality, the space was very little. But a great gismo for the car though.

If the dealer qoutes a total, then I'd think, it includes the camera. But the factory mirror on Ebay also sells for around $500 (Normally Ebay is cheaper then dealership). So wouldn't be surprised to see your dealer not adding the price for the camera in the total.

After all said and done, I still liked the feature. Might look into it in the future. Good luck.

Thankg ThandaPani again for your reply - I checked with the dealer - the price quoted includes everything (camera, new rear view mirror, wires and installation, etc.).

I actually stop by the dealership but they didn't have any car that is equipped with this feature anymore since the new Rogue has the Navi monitor with camara built into the dash.

In any event, I did some search on the internet, a decent in dash Navi with DVD and back up camera costs approximately 1,200 including installation as compared to almost $800 for just the rear view in-mirror monitor. If I can spend the extra $400, should I just go for the full Navi with dvd and back up camera? Is there any downside to this? i.e. lower resale value, losing some of the features, etc.?
