Ive been looking and i havent seen any write ups on relocating the fuse box as far as the trunk. I found a thread from 2 years ago but it was never followed up on.

I decided to explore on my daily driver >_< bad choice cuz i was homelogged for 3 days...(mainly cuz of planning and deciding) without further ado:

Prior to doing the reloc. i redid my lower wiring harness (from transmission to block [starter, alt])

ziptied to hold marks on where to tape

corresponding plugs = green plug with 8 pins and the plug for alternator output

this piece is for the alternator input. following the female part of the plug the white wire goes to the 75amp fuse in fuse box and the black wire grounds to the body. I decreased the amount of wire clutter by having the white input of the alternator directly go to the fuse box and grounding the alternator to the body. (pics later)

separated the wires that will stay in front and what will be cut to go in back

not sure how much wiring i used but since they go by 20' and 40' i opt to make the entire thing 20' from front to back...i ended up with only 2' of excess per wire

i used 18-16-14-and-4 AWG

the smaller ones are from walmart (i had discount hookups from someone)the big 4awg is from homedepot to hook up to the thick white wires inside the fuse box

NOTE!!!this could be done WAAAAY cheaper and find better more flexible 4g wire...i was just out of options since i needed my car on monday. i really really really recommend having each wire a different colo, dont matter what color just different...i learned the hard way by having to retrace each wire as i spliced

laying out the wires and bundling by wire gauge

i used a bicycle as an anchor as i spiral taped the wires... i had my laptop next to me as i watched a movie while doing this.

this is what i end up with....

took out all the panels on the passenger side and found holes to routethis one is the trunk sidenear the rear seat side

i meant to take pics of it going under the carpet the along the side where the door sill is and through the grommet where it comes out the wheel well...i took out the fender and since i dont have all that HICAS and rear wiper fluid stuff, the original wiring that was there is alot skinnier than if i had those...so basically it all fit in there...connect all the wires and you will find that a few of them are spliced to each other, example 3 Red/Blue wires that go to fuse box are actually coming off 1 Red/Blue wire from the harness (just food for thought, makes it easier to follow) i cleaned up alot of the excess wires nissan originally had inside the box and i separated the box into 2 pieces the FUSE side and the RELAY side...then broke up the relay side into individual relays....im designing something to mount it all inside the spare tire well so that when i have carpetting and cover on...its all stealthed XD

Conclusion:there was 2x16awg purple wire...1 to a fuse 1 to a relay...found out it matters which one goes to which cuz my relay kept clicking and the car only turned off when i pulled the fuse with the other purple wire....i switched it now...

Car runs, no problems, clean engine bay, wires are hidden....besides figuring out a mount...i conclude this relocation to be success

Enjoy!

Yeah, I was gonna say FAIL for not using enough different wire colors.

This whole thread is not easy to read either. Sorry!

its not hard...a small 12v source and continuity test light...

I am sorry if you took offense, but I thought the point of an article was to be informative, easy to read and helpful? I only found one out of three in this one. Perhaps you could alter the original post to reflect on one more of these qualifications?

The FAIL comment was meant prely in jest, again, I am sorry if this unnerves you. I would sure have a hard time with it, however.

well, i thought you did a good job

its not really a write-up, but you showed us basically what to do.

i might try this, however i already relocated mine elsewhere in the engine bay and i only had to splice a few wires.

good work

Thanks man. Yeah ive heard different locations. Touge' did his right underneath the battery tray and i heard from WhiteComet he is putting it in the glovebox. I just found it convenient to be in the trunk where my battery is. Ill post the detailed pics of the connections and how it looks when its all hidden and wrapped up, i just didnt bring the right SD card.

yea, an updated write-up will be sweet. you can probably get a custom title for it. I just might end up putting mine in the back too, next to my battery

I would seriously consider adding a rubber grommet here (you can buy them split, or just split it yourself). A few wraps of electrical tape aren't enough to keep the metal from wearing through.

I didn't read in *detail* the wires you extended, but worth noting: the point of the fuse box in the 'bay is to protect lengths of wires from shorts. You fuse as close to possible to the source. Extending wires upstream of the fuse is asking for melted wires.

Good work, at least it looks like it was done neatly. Just be aware.

Another option for wire labeling is wrap-on numbers, or slide-on numbers/letters. You can get a book of wrap-on markers for fairly cheap from an electrical supply house.

Why are you doing this? Is it really in the way of you IC piping? If it is I understand, if not I just don't get it. I could see a really clean engine bay with everything tucked, but from what I see its not judging by the overspray and rust.

when relocating my fuse blocks and wiring, i considered this as well. the only wires that needed extended were a few for headlights and turn signals. everything else was relocated with no extending

I disassembled mine, relocated it underneath the battery tray area, built a mount for it, and reassembled it.

Only had to extend the large alternator wire (Nissan uses WAY too much wire )

Good job, though - Props for tackling what many people puss out on!!!

if you meant the wires and some plugs, yes it is accessible. if you meant the fuses and relays, then they are next to my battery in the trunk and it is easily accessible.

yeah i know but like i titled the post *(simple) its cuz i was short on time and short on resources and needed to do it

given extra time i would have turned to this route (and probably will later on):

Wires - http://www.delcity.net/store/P...0.a_1Battery cable - http://www.delcity.net/store/2...9.a_1Loom - http://www.delcity.net/store/Slit-Loom/p_289.a_1Fuse Block - http://www.delcity.net/store/8...3.a_1

If you want to see a pic of an engine bay with no wires, I think I have one.

a friend of mine did his like that too, ziptied the hell out of it till its taut. i tell him its awkward to me how it sits upside down and hidden from access...but he said its fine with him...

Not to sidetrack your thread but I have a quick question. Where does those three white wires goto (one thicker one and two smaller ones)
