my car is a 1991 240sx fastback SE.

its idle is so rough that is stalls out half the time when i push in the clutch at a stop sign.

then my car sounds like its at 4,000rpm but its saying its at 8,000rpm. i can rev the thing past 8 and it only sounds like its at 5,000.

i just dont know what to do. my air filter is fine, i changed the fuel filter and i changed the spark plugs and i found oil all over the second spark plug and thats worried me. i just dont know what to do. i dont want to spend much money at all on this car because i dont have that much moeny and i want a new car. so im trying to save money and not spend it on the car

if it is an oil leak that may cause it

clean and check the maf (do a search, this has been discused numerous times)

you might change the o2 sensor too.

the tach thing has me stumped unless its a wiring or sensor thing

the oil on your plug is probably from a leak valve cover oring strip. This is likely your idle problem as well. The oil was on the wire side of the plug right. replace the valve cover and see if you have improvements.

The tac thing what does it read at idle?

i would of did a search but i had no idea what to search about.

the oil was on the inside, where the spark comes from, so its inside the cylinder.

the tach reads either 1,000 or it bounces around anywhere from 500-1,500.

im just stumped about the tach thing

OOOPs I meant to say the valve cover gasket. So was there absolutly no oil on the wire side of the plug. The oil will get on the spark side when you lift it out the oil runs down onto the electrode.

not good sounds like an engine overhaul in the making. Rings or valve guides.
