I am looking at getting back into luxury/sport sedan world ... had a Maxima that I loved for years, and I do have a bias towards infinities (hate the new maxima look) ... m35 is running at the top of the list. I am looking for a mildly used vehicle, however I really want a in dash GPS. I am assuming that I am pretty much stuck buying cars with factory unit installed to maintain full functionality, am I right?

Are there good aftermarket in-dash GPS units that fit Infinities well? I don't want to be limited in my search without a real need ....

If you want an in-dash GPS, your best bet is to go with a factory installed one.

Unfortunately, no longer a Nissan or Infiniti, but continuing here at NICO!

Welcome to NICO!

Echoing the post from Andrew: he is right. Nothing is going to quite fit the position of the in-dash GPS as well as the one made by Infiniti for that location! Or be as functional, etc.

I love my in dash unit. As long as you keep up to date with the maps every few years like any other GPS. Functionality works perfect and integration is flawless. If you go aftermarket these key features are potentially lost.
