ok well here's what i just ordered... a Pioneer AVIC-Z3, a viper 5901 with the tilt sensor, automatic truck sensor and window sensor, and a power door lock kit.

has anybody has had any experience with that pioneer? any pros and cons... aside from the ones that are on the reviews.

how about the viper unit? ive been told that it's supposed to be a real good one but not much more from that... anything anyone knows would be helpful.

and what about the comandoalarms.com power door locks? have anybody done installed that on yet?

well any info in regadrs to these items that anybody can give me will be highly appreciated.

I have a Z1 with a Z3 upgrade and it is a good unit, perhaps a little outdated at this point and the ipod sucks on it, but overall good.

Alarms are only as good as the install, so do a good job and hide everything well or pay a good shop to do it.

The power door lock kit looks like most of the other ones I've seen, and usually I only saw a year or two before they came back to get replaced. Price is really good though as long as they don't kill you on shipping.

z3 is a software update to the z1 and z2. Hardware wise they are identical, and were designed about 4 years ago. It does go to show you that they are solidly designed that they have kept it around that long.

I'd say 4? I often find myself disconnecting it to scroll to what I want because it take too long other wise, or recently I have just been putting it on shuffle and ffwding through the songs I don't want to hear.

It does have the hard drive and plays dvds which is nice though. If you really want to get a lot of info check out avic411.
