Here's a peek at my latest addition to my truck.. these pics aren't too great.. but the unit is Panasonic cq-vad7300u, retail was $1699, I got in installed, total price with tax: $1370. Couldn't pass it up!

First movie I watched was Bad Boys 2, and it sounds better than some home theater setups I've auditioned the same movie on. Everything is crystal clear, brilliant to the point of painful. Deep notes/explosions are over the top, and can make the hair on the back of my neck stand on end! Any more would be too much.

MB Quart and JL are supporting items.

Wow those pictures really suck. oh well..

Checker, yeah, this model uses dolby digital 5.1 and dts.

I'm glad I didn't go with a touchscreen unit, because the fingerprints are all too obvious and annoying!! Sure there's more expensive and more heavily optioned units(i.e. Pioneer, Eclipse) but this one works very well. Panasonic makes one hell of a decent LCD screen. Very bright, even though it's hard to tell from the crap photos. Plenty of flexibility, plenty of options. The PS2 is goin in next week. :)

Sweet man, i had mobile video in my car before the car dvd players came out. I had one of the first alpine lcds and a yamaha home dvd player in my my car. I took it out after a week because it was too much of a temptation to watch movies while you drive. Not advisable.

Non-alchohol no ammonia wipes work well for cleaning the screen.

Lttj, those wipes do work well. You'll need them every time you operate your unit, so buy them in bulk at Costco or something.

About driving + watching dvd: no different or worse than the millions of people who are so consumed by their phone conversation that they pay zero attention to the road conditions. It takes cautious awareness, and a realization that I've seen the movie 100 times already and I'm not missing anything new, and I can enjoy the dialogue or sounds of gunfights/explosions/car chases.

I rather enjoy having the massive car chase scenes from bad boys 2 or Ronin playing, while I'm commuting in the morning.

yeah, the movie sound track, not music soundtrack, is fun to listen to. I think I'd be fine on long trips.

Car Toys is the place I go. There's a guy, I've been his customer for 6 years now. He treats me right, gives me decent pricing, and everything has always been installed to perfection. Pass a couple $20 to your installer before work is performed, for best results.
