I couldn't find info on this project so decided to tackle it on my own. I was a shop mechanic years ago but this is one of those times when I would buy the Genuine Nissan part B4 trying to replace it just so you know what you are looking for. Somebody suggested removing the glove box, which I did. The entire thing (door & latch included) is easily removed by removing 8 dark colored phillips head screws. Make sure to disconnect the wiring for the light b4 you pull the assembly out of the dash. To do this, DEPRESS the tab & PULL on the WHITE (male) connector where it plugs into the BLACK (female) connector while holding onto the FEMALE connector to avoid damaging the small wires. A mirror and flashlight are useful in finding the filter location under the dash. The filter is located in the AC/Heating ducting close to the firewall. Again, use the new OEM filter to identify the part and its location. The filter appears to just slide out but that is not the case. There is a TAB at the bottom of the filter that fits into a SLOT on the ducting. Again, check your new filter for details. CAREFULLY slide a flat blade screwdriver between the slot and tab and GENTLY pry up while pulling out on the filter. Install the new filter by sliding the top edge into the duct first. This will compress the loose filter material at the top of the filter without damaging it. (you will see what I am talking about when you see the new OEM filter) Lastly, there is a foam seal around the new filter that seals it against the ducting. Seat the top of the new filter first. Using your flashlight, make SURE that the tab on the bottom of the filter is seated in the slot on the duct & the foam seal is fully compressed & not visible. You will have to apply some pressure to make the tab snap into the slot. Replace the glove box by connecting the wiring & replacing the 8 screws. This is a simple 20 minute job the first time, maybe 10 minutes when you know what you are doing. You will be amazed at how much cr@p is trapped in this filter after 20,000 miles. The OEM Nissan filter doesn't include any activated charcoal to destroy A/C generated odors but I understand they are available as aftermarket items(BOSCH?) Don't be afraid to tackle this simple job. Tools required are a phillips & flat blade screwdriver, flashlight and mirror. Cabin air filters are about $15-18 from online dealers vs. $130 installed @ the dealer in my area. DIY and save big bucks.
