Hi -

I have a 2011 g37 with about 37K miles, I bought it 1 yr ago, certified pre-owned (no clue if they changed it b4 I bought the car). Have put about 12k miles on it. When the AC starts it has a bit of a strange odor so it was suggested I change the in cabin air filter. I called the dealership and of course the filter is $40 and the install is like 80. I looked on pepboys website - http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/ ... quantity=1

This one is 13 dollars. Is it just as good like most of these sort of things? Also they said they would install, seems like a pretty easy install but I may have them go ahead and do it for that price.

What are the thoughts on these aftermarket in cabin air filters and will it help me out?

Do a search for cabin filters
There are videos showing the procedure

It is pretty easy to do.
You'll need a long shaft phillips screwdriver.

I did mine at 15k miles and change it once a year. The parts department at the dealer charged me $24.70
The price at the parts department is usually cheaper than the price the service department will quote you as the service department marks up the price from the parts department.

I only use OEM filters as I had a problem on my old 06 G35 using a purolator filter.

Telcoman,

Would you recommend just buying the standard paper filter or the higher quality ones? I've got 65k on mine and I'm replacing a grill right now so I might as well order all my parts at once.

Thanks,

I picked my filters up from tunerzstore.com....Here's my how-to for installation:

For the smell...well....I've had it a while in the sedan and at times it's worse than others. Just had it start on my coupe after 5 years and 75k miles. There really seems no permanent way to get it totally gone.
