Not all Navi systems are created equal.
Each one uses a different processor, has different receptors for GPS, which in turn affect how quickly it refreshes the screen. The GPU could be a little slow, or the reception may be weak, or both.
Unfortunately, unless you are just a guru with electronics (and I mean circuitboard guru type) there isn't anything you can do. Sometimes, if they lag, a reset is needed, but that is the extent of troubleshooting available to you.
A lot of people upgrade to snappier aftermarket units. That way, you don't have to pay a dealer to update it as most of them offer downloadable updates through their sites. Even Pioneer now makes the App Radio, which lets you use your iPhone or Android via data connection and just ports the phone's apps like Pandora and Google maps to the unit.
I prefer Google Maps via iOS myself.
