This is going to sound really dumb but whata hell…

For a FF (Front engine Front wheel drive) family sedan my car handles surprisingly well, I’m theorizing that part of it is because I have allot of weight in the back, which balanced the car to about 50/50 weight distribution.

Original weight distribution of the Altima is 60/40…

In the trunk I have (as detailed as I could):

2 Aftermarket speakers which added 8 pounds each (stock was 1lb per speakers these new one are 9lb, so 9-1 x2=16Speakers: 16 lbFirst amp: 32 lbSecond amp: 24 lbPower/Ground/Speaker Wires: 10 lbSounds proofing: at least 40 lb 2 12” subs in a giant box…at least 120 lb

total 242 lb of extra weight in the back…

opinions/thoughts/comments?

Well, using hot rodder math, that's 2 tenths (or more) of a second in the 1/4 mile.

Also, a heavier car will handle WORSE, regardless of distribution. Better to reduce weight than increase.

You could weld 1000 lbs of lead into the wheelwells and keep the distribution 50/50, but it won't improve handling.

Lastly, 50/50 F/R distribution is NOT the "holy grail" of handling for a FF car.

But I'll bet it rocks. :)

^ ???i think it could help. less weight is definitely better, but having extra in the trunk could help your balance (more oversteer). And it seems to make it sit a lot nice in that pic
