Like so many others, I ran into clearance issues between the top mount turbo and brake booster. I had illustrated this in my build thread, but since I've had some idle time, I'd bring it to the fore front.

To the point, I found that the brake booster from a '91 Fastback is more compact then what was equipped in my '93 Vert. Unfortunately, the part # on each wasn't visable.

After swapping boosters, the MBC sat closer to the firewall almost clearing the turbo exhaust housing giving much room for some type of heatsheald to be added.

This worked for me, hope it helps someone else.

That is the difference between an Automatic brake booster and a manual brake booster, not 93 vs. 91.

The automatic is the bigger one.

The stamps are there, but the numbers aren't.

Dee, do you know of any compatible smaller brake booster?

I'm Ryan, not Dee, lol.

No, the S13 Manual's are the smallest that I know of. There is probably something else out there that would work, but it would be a trial and error sort of thing.

He's right in the fact that float_6969 is "Ryan" and boost_boy is "Dee" , but my cure for this is modify the manifold. But you still will need to protect your reservoir as I've already melted two.

Dee

If I'm not mistaken the thicker one means it's a dual diaphragm unit, i.e. your brake pedal is going to be stiffer than it was.

I know this because I switched to a full Z32 brake set up on my car, including bmc, but didn't bother to change out the booster. So now my pedal is STIFF. Not like instant lock... the range is the same. It just requires more force per inch you push than before. (Z32s all had dual diaphragm boosters, that's what they were designed for)

Not really a big deal though. Esp. if you're a man.

And I've heard of people using Geo Metro boosters before, like on hotrods and stuff. Cause they're really small.

But that's more of a band-aid than anything, proper solution is a better manifold. but you know that!
