After my recent rear end collission, something like this catches my eye:

What do yall think? Have you ever used or seen these? I know that some of those brighter/whiter headlights can cause problems sometimes.

And how will you compensate for the differences in current from oem bulbs and the warning display diagnostics?

The LED type bulbs are being used in a lot of new apps, like UPS trucks, tractor trailers, new caddy's, Lexus, etc.

They draw very little power & 'flash' on faster than an incandescent.

However......

I haven't seen *one* aftermarket LED light that's worth a :boink

As I see it, the problem with the LED conversions into a housing that's made for standard bulbs is that they project outwards in a straight line, rather than all around. Standard bulbs reflect off of the reflector in the tail light housing. These things just shine a weak spot of light directly out the back of the lens.

VERY true. I know from personal experience.

I don't know how sensitive the diagnostics are. I think that if it senses an open circuit (burnt out bulb), then the display tells you that a bulb is out...but I don't think a reduced draw will elicit the same result.

The reason I say this is when I installed my HID ballasts/bulbs in my 95Q, there is no "headlight out" message at all. However, when my center brake light was out, the message came on. I think the HID ballast draws like 30-something watts.
