Hey guys, just to let you know I've done my search and came up with little info that helped me. Well I just recently installed a new flywheel and clutch into my 89 240sx. Don't kno if it matters but its a single cam. I drove it for a short while and it wasn't so bad, I got around to adjusting the freeplay on the clutch also and it started feeling better. Shortly after adjusting the clutch I attempted to pull up my driveway and no go. It was weird since the car was driving really well before that. I was able to pull up the driveway prior ro adjusting the clutch. I haven't bled the car just yet, but does it make sense for it to work fine and then crap out like that? It's IMPOSSIBLE to get into first gear, it will go into reverse if you put ALOT of muscle into it. Other than that first gear wont go in. Theres no uneccessary or awkward noises coming from the transmission and I almost positive I'm not leaking anywhere. Also, the first couple times I started it up there was some smoke and the smell of clutch. There still is some essence of it on start up but nothing too terrible. Well guys, I'm puzzled, if you could help me out that would be great! Thanks!

well I was most concerned with getting into first. But since you ask, no other gears will engage neither. I went ahead and bled the slave cylinder and it helped temporarily but then soon seized up again. I didn't notice the first time around, but the second time I went to bleed the slave the shaft in it was fully elongated therefore locking it. What causes the slave to slowly after time extend and become unable to retract? When I relieve the fluid it then retracts and returns to normal. And then shortly after it locks. What's going on?

Sounds like clutch hydraulics. Most likely the infamous dampener box valve crap out. Dump the box, reconnect, rebleed.
