By deciding to go with an import car like the 240/Silvia, am I pretty much giving up on any sense of low end torque? Looking at the dyno graphs on every import page Ive seen, its a HUGE curve... way low at the begining, and it's peak range way higher than a car designed to really jump off the line.Is this just how it is, or are there methods to avoid it?

240s are actually pretty friendly with torque...160lb/ft in a 4cyl is nothing to throw rotten fruit at...

240SX are real good with torque compared to other imports. The toque numbers on the 240 are actually very close to most smaller V6's torque numbers.

Seriously though.. the KA engine in a 240 has decent torque. It's no 8 cylinder muscle car, but it definitely doesn't suck. Not sure what you mean about "methods to avoid this".

well yeah I guess what I meant is if there is some way to get more low end tourque out of our engines. Guess not though, considering it's a 4 banger.. I know its true the 240 has pretty decent tourque for its class... I was just wondering if there is ANY way it can compete with higher displacement engines.

Not really off the low end cause it's gotta spool up though, right?

Yeah theyve got em that bring em up to 2.5L- I saw em someplace... but honestly though, could we EVER compare (at the line) to an 8 cyl muscle car?

i suggest if you get/have a 240 you concentrate more on the handling than the torque. i mean... yea its cool to be able to get off the line fast but handling through hairpins a 240 would kill most of these domestic v8 beasts (hypothetically speaking of course - just taking into accont handling and disregarding corner accelration, corner speed, etc)
