Folks, I will need to import my 2011 M56 to Canada, and unfortunately Infiniti Canada has been vague about whether any given model qualifies. There are just two potential problem areas : 1) Does the car already have, or can it be fitted with, a Daytime Running Lights module, and 2) Does the car already have, or can it be fitted with an Engine Immobilization Sytem to make car theft more difficult. I contacted Infiniti US for help and they blew me off, saying perhaps my local dealer could help ! In Arizona ? About Canadian DOT requirements ? Amazing, except customer service I've learned is not a concern of theirs. So...does anybody out there have any knowledge on this ? I plan to talk to the local dealer anyway a week from Friday when I get a recall job done. Thanks in advance, Doug

It is easy. I imported mine. Immobilizer was fine no action required, the only thing needed is to have daytime running lights programmed which the dealer here did for for me for $150 (rip off). They just reprogram the computer.
Then you just get safetied and etest and your done.
You will need a letter of recall from Infiniti to show no outstanding recalls as well. Just call Infiniti USA and they will email to you.

Very helpful dinkeye...thanks. I've imported vehicles before and knew I had to have a few things prepared. You've helped perfectly on this specific vehicle. I'm angered by Infiniti US apparent total lack of concern for customers who've plunked down $60,000 for a car. I only plan to keep the car because it's a good one, and it'd lose a fortune in depreciation if I sold it with only 15,000 miles on it. I've got a little recall job coming up and on the last recall job at Infiniti they seemed irritated that I wanted a loaner car, then when I returned it informed me there'd be a gas charge for using it ! I contrast that with the two small recalls on my Lexus...when my car was returned detailed, filled with a new tank of gas, and a box of treats and apology for the inconvenience on the passenger seat ! Ah well...the M56 is a nice car...I am lucky to have it and shouldn't complain ! Thanks again for the help. Doug

Doug, I understand the frustration. I felt the same way after plunking down 60k for my m35 when new... the dealership was insulting. This is the one weakness of Infiniti. However, the product is far superior to Lexus in my eyes, so there is no way I'd get an "L" just to have a better service experience. I had to put it in perspective, that the only other car I wanted (Maserati) was $50k more... so I can afford to buy all the detailing & chocolates (and cigars, massages, golf) I need!

That's just your dealership(s) guys.

My dealer gives me a loaner if I request it and just makes me fill the tank before I bring it back (no big deal). They wash and clean my car inside before giving it back to me.

Lia Infiniti in Latham, NY.
