Dear friends,

I have a question.

My name is Nayiem and I own a company named Nordic Imports in the Netherlands.
We import sportscars from Japan to Europe and ship them to The Netherlands, UK, Sweden and Germany.

However, the time has come. I'm going to import my favourite car from the USA.
The Nissan 240sx convertible.

As I was looking for some vert's, I've noticed that cars like the Skyline GTR's are very expensive in the USA, some of them are twice as expensive compared with the cars that I import from Japan.

So.. my question is; What could be the reason(s) that people from the USA don't import cars from Europe or directly from Japan?

Kind Regards,

Nayiem Willems.

It's very difficult and expensive, this is why few euro/japanese cars are here :squint: ...

If the shipping to Miami, L.A. or New York, would be like 1000 or 1500,- dollar.
And if you let the shipping settle someone else?

Would it still be expensive or difficult to get the car registered in the USA?

The issue is not the shipping...

The reason why few cars are imported is that they have to meet safety and emissions standards in the US! If the car is made in the US it isn't as difficult but that stands still. If the car isn't in the US you have to hire a certified specialist to modify the car to emissions standards and safety, and that is extremely expensive. Plus, even if that is done and the car arrives it is inspected by port authorities, if they reject it for any reason it gets crushed or sent back and you get screwed :(! The only way it is easier is if the car is at least 25 production years old, then you dont have to worry about emissions, but still safety  ..
