Alright I live in Arizona and want to know how I can get a 1999 r34 here legally, im moving to germany next month and will be there for 2 years. I would like to return with a skyline, they have alot of r34 skylines in germany and in the uk in mint condition for 10,000-20,000 euros, the only problem is to bring one in too the us, I have spent countless hours on this forum and others researching ways to get it into the us. what is the best way to bring it over? I have heard of people bringing them over without engines and then buying a engine here and registering them legally as kit cars, I have also heard that if you bring parts with the intent of putting the car together you can get in alot of trouble with the law, Im only fifteen and I dont really know much about importing/exporting cars, so any info would be gladly appreciated, I already have the funds for the car, the only issue really is legality. My dream car, as with many of you is the r34 and I would love to own one.Edit*** does anyone know anything about drifttuners? I heard that they change the vins, put in different drivetrains and motors to make there skylines legal for the us streets.Felipe B.

Yes they are a scam. They are a Canadian based company that he claimed to be located in the U.S. with a subcontract through JK Tech for doing imports. JK Tech was contacted and their response to the question was "Who's Drift Tuners? Never heard of them".

Building a Skyline from the ground up isn't illegal, however the process in which you go about doing it determins how legal it is. ie: where you get your parts, proof of where they came from, what they were declared as when they came in, etc things like that.

More reading. That's been answered too.

Read up on "kit car" issues in that thread.

And how are they "still on this website"? That chickensh*t couldn't handle the heat around here, and hasn't come back since.

What I meant is that his profile is on here, I assumed that if he were a scammer you guys would have kicked him, on another note, I initiated contact with drift tuners and here is what I wrote and what they replied.

FELIPE: Hi, I recently found out about you guys on nico club and was wondering if your skylines would be legal in arizona, also what would be the cheapest price you could give me on your 1998 Nissan 25GT - Custom GTR ( in blue, the price range fit my budget untill I found out that there's another 26,000$ on top of the listed price, even thought I have a passion for skylines, 46g's is just way out of my budget. Is there a cheaper alternative that you guys offer? all I really need is a skyline with the exterior like the custom gtr look of that 1998 25gt, because im going to change out the whole interior regardles. Also how much would the final price on this supra be with the legalization cost?

Thanks &Best Regards

Felipe

TUNERS: You don’t have to do the Federalization on the cars. For the blue R34 I can do $20,000 plus $3,800 for the Title, VIN and DOT letter of compliance. As for the Supra the final cost would be $26,800. What state are you in? If you are in Cali you will have to swap the motor in the R34 because it’s not EPA approved or legal, we can swap in a SR20DET, VQ or the supra TT motor. As for the supra, the supra motor was also manufactured in north America there for an approved EPA motor and the smog system have the code for that motor.

FELIPE: but without paying the 26g"s will it be street legal?

TuNERS: You don’t have to pay that fee, only “Motor Vehicles” you do, we remove the motor and call it parts on the paperwork then put the motor back in at the shop in FL. Then we give you the title, VIN and DOT also the title will read as the real car, so if the car is a 1999 GTR VSPEC then that’s what it will read. Also it’s NOT title as parts or a kit car. Also we can register the car in your state if you like. We would need you to sign a POA and get your info then goto the DMV acting on your behalf.

I dont know about these guys, I mean they sound pretty legit but from what I have heard, they are as reliable as goat s***, so I dont know, you guys tell me.

any feed back would be gladly appreciated.

He's been discussed and exposed in numerous threads on here as well as here, http://skylineownersusa.com/fo...=1928

Plain and simple this guy is fake. After being called out and exposed he even tried to ditch and sell "Drift Tuners".

Doing what they say customs will inspect the car seize the car and motor when it comes in dose not matter if you ship the 2 to different ports they will seize them both i know from experience then they will auction off the shell for export only and sell the motor also at another auction. If you buy one of those you have to pay a bond on the car and use a bonded transport to move it from the auction house to the port there is no list of transporters but i just know they have to be bonded

So, he's basically just admitted to circumventing Federal law.

Again - READ the threads. He's NOT a RI, he's NOT capable of Federalizing a car, he's NOT brought a single car into compliance for US use, and he's NOT even a good businessman.

He's a chump who needs to do like the rest of us and go get a real job, because he sure as hell ain't making any money as an "importer".

Cripes, read his website! He can bring a car into CANADA, but so can a retarded ape. Canada doesn't HAVE the same restrictions.

Seriously, can we be done with this clown? There's a reason he lives in his mom's basement, and it ain't because he knows importing.

He actually asked you to sign a Power of Attorney over to him??? Holy crap.

Signing this guy POA means:

-You could be accountable for any related activities subsequently discovered to be illegal

-Depending on the specifics of the agreement, his POA authority could expand beyond the matter at hand (called "durable" power of attorney) - meaning he could access your private information, bank records, credit history, and even issue promisory notes in your name
