Importing 101 I need help! Daunttless?

I my first SR just arrived at my local port, How do I clear customs? I was looking under the USITC HTS (United States Internation Trade Commision, Harmonized Tariff Schedule) Section XVII (Vehicles, Aircraft, Vessels and associated transport equipment) Chaper 87, and I couldn't find anything related to importing just a motor, and gearbox. Am I looking in the right place? How do I clear this motor? Can I just go to the customs office and tell them what I have and where it is? I have the Bill of Landing, and shipping papers. Help!

Thanks for the try, but that has to do with complying with NHTSA regulations and importing cars as a whole... I need customs info on importing just the motor and gearbox... Anyone else?

call it scrap and pay the duties on it. I'd suggest a fake bill of lading saying its only worth 200 bucks.

Do I just go to the customs office and tell them that? where do I get a fake bill of landing? So either way I just go to the customs office and tell them what I have, with a BoL as proof?
