Man, I dont know how this always manages to happen to me. Regardless, I got an email sent to me from what appeared to be this site, or someone from it. I dont remember because I deleted the bastard. Anyways, in the body of the email it states something to the effect of "New MSN chat group" with an attachment named nissaninfiniti505.bat. Im a moron for opening it in the first place, but it was early, and very well disguised. DO NOT OPEN IT!! It contains a NASTY trojan called backdoor.prorat. If you have already opened it, it has a pretty simple fix. You just go to the companies website (http://prorat.net/downloads.php) and download their program and unzip it. After it is unzipped, you just run it (that is of course if you still have internet, which I didnt) and there is a little icon on the GUI in the upper right that says something to the effect of "Remove Local Server". You just click on this and the virus is removed and everything goes back to normal. I hope you all have better luck with it than I did, cuz it SUCKS!

Does anybody use yahoo messenger, theres a nasty trojan going around, where the hacker sends a message from one of your infected friends on your buddy list, saying look at my new pic and it has a picture url, you download it and the hacker now gets your password.

Search for the program "stinger" from mcafee. It's a free tool for removing common trojans and virii.

Everyone get a virus scanner and keep it up to date.

Don't click random links or accept files from people unless you know they are going to send it.

Make your email password difficult.. 6 - 10 chars with numbers in it..

Bam - problem solved ;)

If you have XP I would recommend getting Service Pack 2 as soon as possible.. IE6SP2 (Internet Explorer) is MUCH more secure and has a built pop-up blocker along with a "Add-on manager". IE used to allow software to be installed via an activex control... it now blocks this and alerts you, as well as all other things that try to install or run on your system.. It's much better (im actually using it more than firefox right now)

Good stuff:

Symantec Virus & Security checker (free)

Ad-Aware - find & remove adware/spyware/popup loaders/dialers

Firewall - Zonealarm (XP Users: Get SP2 and enable the firewall.. its better in SP2)
