Ok I went to the tag office today to see about my swap and they told me to file for a new title and put that the car has 6 cylinders and highlight it. send your old title and 18.00 and they issue a new title that says 6 cyl. Instead of 4 cyl. For emissions this will only work for OBD 1 cars tell the inspector that you have a 6 cyl and they will enter into the computer the displacement and number of cyl. and put your car up on the rack.

interesting, I'm about to register my new 240 with a rb20.

They didn't care that it had a swap? I would think they would wonder if it was legal or not.

But does it even matter? I mean, do I have to tell them I have a 6 cylinder? That will just make insurance rates go up in my opinion once the insurance company reviews your car registration forms.....

huh? I'm confused. Why did you call them? To get your title redone because you swapped your engine out?

the reason why douglas has emissions and carrol doesnt is because douglas is now considered part of metro atlanta.. basically all the surrouding counties of atlanta have emissions because of the smog in atl and everytime it goes over a certain smog rating atl gets hit with a fine.. so thats the reason and is your rb faster than the sr20 black top

I live in Carroll County, and have heard rumor that soon we too will have emissions testing. I heard this rumor almost a year ago and so far we still don't have any, but we probably will sometime in the next few years.

God bless Texas, where the sky is blue, the trees are green, and a twelve pack of beer will buy an inspections sticker

X3

Forsyth County for me too.

I have found a "special" inspections place through a few of the local 240SX guys. I will be registering my car soon (it's been off the road for 2+ years). I'll advise how it all goes.

Is an stock RB quicker than a stock blacktop sr? Which RB? I know my RB20 in a vert running 6psi will walk all over a slightly modified SR blacktop, it's even embarrased quite a few Mustange in the Hiram/D ville area.

The 25 will deifintely eat yours up.

I live in North GA also, I have a 96 240sx with a 95 engine and transmission, and wiring harness so I'm probably screwed already when it comes to emissions if they ever do it in my county (Jackson).

I've read up on all the swap choices, and I still have a lot of time to decide what I'm going to do to my car since I don't exactly have a trust fund or anything, but I think I've narrowed it down to an RB25 or an SR20, and I've found the RB to be cheaper, surprisingly and it was already the most tempting choice, but I was wondering if any of you have gotten AC working on yours and also how it handles when you take it out on a mountain road or something.

weight distribution, AC, parts availability and difficulty of doing the swap are about the only things keeping the SR20 on the list.

(of course I wouldn't rule out the RB26, just don't think I can afford it.)

Yes you can have AC ion the Rb y ou need custom Lines and the weight thing is crap the RB only weighs like 60 LBS more than a SR. Wich offsets the car by 2%. in the front.
