If an admin wants to sticky this it would be great. I am going to try and make this as clean of a thread as I can for future use.

This past weekend I met with the sponsors for BC Racing. I talked with them some about the suspension on my J30. What I thought was just going to be adding new parts to my car opened up a new opportunity for the J30 community. I will be getting some new coilovers for the front of my J30 with the S14 setup.

The biggest surprise is that they are wanting to develop coilovers that would be more bolt on to the J30. In November I am taking some stock J30 suspension down to their headquarters. I am currently giving them measurements from my J30 setup and it will translate to making a set of coilovers that can go pretty low. If I get a set soon, they may have me ship them down instead to speed up the process.

I will keep you guys updated as how this develops. I will make a detailed write up on install, adjustment and pricing.

As for control arms, I am running the full line of SPL arms for the 300zx. These allow full adjustability of the suspension in all aspects. This does mean the other brands of 300zx control arms will fit, but I prefer SPL because of their build quality and ease of adjustment.

I will add some more information in the next post with pictures.

when you say " bolt-on" do you mean that BC racing will include spindles as well for these coilovers? or would it be like a weld-on spindle situation?

I'm only asking because that will probably jack up the prices to $1000+ for a set pretty much like the Q45 Y33 megan coilovers.

Im totally for bolt on suspension upgrades and in the future i would be one of the first to get a set, but J30 owners would probably want a "spring coilover" instead of a whole coilover system since these cars were made for comfort and not speed.

I would be interested provided they are a reasonable amount. Look forward to updates!

I would expect in the $1000-$1200 range. That is not unreasonable when premium coilovers are $3000+. Megan racing is Chinese made anyways. Why they are so cheap and why they are not as good of quality. These will be made in house here in the U.S.A. I have gone over the weight aspect and they can be valved specifically for which spring rate you will want to use. 8k Front and 6k rear is what most street applications generally are at. I am running 12k Front and 10k Rear which is a bit stiffer of a ride.

Hello there, I am a Newb owner of a 93 J30 . I know nothing about this vehicle only that it's very comfortable, and that I dig the body style. Gentleman I need your help. My cars only got like 163k and shes in BAAAD shape. I'm needing struts front/rear, looking for performance parts that will fit if any are a chore to find. My main interest especially that I've seen are COIL-OVERS. If anyone has info on this I'd be hella stoked to get that info. ANY help will be suffice.

Cut the spring perch off. Then weld a "O" shaped plate where you want your coilover-threads to rest. Instead of welding that plate, you can get a bolt-on collar too. It's 2 half circles that clamp onto the strut housing. I believe they're originally used for making axles on tractors. Believe it or not, these bolt-on collars will hold! I had them on the front of my 1st gen maxima, with 280zx ground control coil overs. I got this idea from a datsun 510 forum. That guy raced with those collars. They never budged. I'm having trouble revisiting the exact forum. If I come across it, I'll post it here.

Did anything ever happen with the coilovers? Trying decide between a J30 & Q45 for a project. Love the J30 because it's smaller lighter etc. Just not thrilled of the lack of any suspension options other than miss matches parts. Plus that only adds cost on top of the coilovers that cost more than the car.

i have a '97 j30 that was in neglected shape, but sat in a garage for 2 years by the original owner. Replaced the rack, had the timing. water pump, alternator belts all replaced, had the engine taken out and resealed. the car runs great now, but can't find struts for it, and the tension rod bushings need replacing. Never had such a hard time finding parts for a vehicle like this one. Ready to just send it to the scrap yard. As I said It runs great and everything works on it even the a/c blows popsicles. Any sugestions out there?
