OK, My friend owns a BMW and we always debate on oil change. I am set to change oil every 5000 km. He is going with the BMW free plan. Well not anymore. He linked me to BMW website. The guy did his own oilchange at 7500. See picture for yourself and tell me if 15k or 1 year is a good volume to change. Now bunch of BMW owners going to change there own oil. BMW free maintenance plan ha.

Engine with a tubo set up on a 15k plan. This is only the half way.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

5k or bust. No Oil will hold up to the 15k / 1 year test.

Hahahahah!!! Zozo, thank you for this info. I guess I am not crazy anymore---3,000 miles is it before an oil change. Unless God makes everlasting filters and non-breakdown oil, my car will receive its routine 3,000 mile oil change even with Royal Purple. I can't be flogging my car the way i do, and yet skimp on the very liquid that keeps it alive.

Oh, by the way, the Royal Purple I put in my car last weekend 11/28/08, is probably going to be replaced---95% sure, before 1/10/2008. Yep! Thats right! My babay needs fresh oil alwaaaaays!!!!

Recommended oil change is for the manufacturer. Real oil change---3,000 miles or less, is for me.

If anybody is planning to buy a used BMW. Well think again.

So how long these engines will last? Probably not long enough.

There's a simple solution to this problem- multifilter system. Amsoil does up to 4 IIRC.

What is this oil you guys speak of, where does it go and why does everyone always talk about how long they go before changing it.

my car just got some Mobil 1 Synthetic last weekend at about 3500 miles (i waited til after the holidays) i usually let shops change my oil... they actually sold Royal Purple and Mobil 1 as an option... wow i didnt know RP cost so much per bottle... if i hadnt just got my window tinited the same day(pics will be up soon) i would of done the RP oil change... ima try it next time... i keep hearing good things.

But i do like the mobile one so far just mainly because the car warms up much quicker then the Penzoil full sythetic i had in it before. Its cold in the mornings now!
