Import Tuner can go to hell

After taking an exam in weight training today (such bs) i was reading my friends Jan 03 import tuner. They said a 95 Se had 140 hp. They dynoed it to get a baseline and got 115 hp?!?!? What the hell is wrong w/ them? The dumbass put the apexi GT spec exhaust on there w/ a NA Ka....

It's possible. Dirty air filter, throttle body, loss in compression. Although I have to agree that the writers Import Tuner like men.

even w/ an injen intake it only got like 123 hp, they don't know what they are doing i think they made up those dynos...

man... those numbers are right... that is horsepower to the REAR WHEELS not to the flywheel.

check an import tuner from oct 02 and it will tell you differently and the numbers sound about right they just fudge that up

Maybe you guys missed the issue, but I have one where they printed a letter from AEM. It said that the results they got from their dyno were complete crap, and AEM ran their own dyno (for an RSX) and recieved horsepower gains of 10 more than what Import Tuner got.I have the magazine and letter from AEM right in front of me if anyone wants me to type it out.

I concur, Import Tuner blows. They write their articles like high school kids doing a book report. But instead of reporting about a book, they're reporting about a car. Even their interviews with the models are cookie cutter... and for the most part, their models are fuggly.

the february edition ha a nice long article about 96 240sx se which pretty much only talks about how they ran it some times and replaced the brake disks, wheels, tires, coilovers, and a lightwieght flywheel... dont get too carried away

Every tuner's job is to get the highest number possible to put in adds. I bet the Injen intake for our car is gonna net 10hp on a dyno, but we all know this is not realistic. AEM ran some RSX on their dyno and IT ran some other RSX on some other dyno. Both AEM and IT are gonna be off on the actual hp gains.

Import Tuner is a bad mag. It seems they don't care what they print up. If you look at the Feb issue there is a Miata in there (from my town!) and he states his 1/4 mile time as 13.7, when I've personally seen this car whoop 13 and 12 second cars. Import Tuner is only as good as the info they gather (and they really don't try to hard).

Yup, I don't particularly like the kit, but its insanely fast. He also owns an 11 sec Civic, an extremely fast CRX, a Type-R (powered) LS Integra (which his girls drives). His friend has an all motor Civic that runs solid 12.5s. The guy also owns Mini-bikes that are so fast it would make you shudder.

Did you notice the banner on the Miata? BYTuning....Back Yard Tuning, he's done almost all work to all of the cars and bikes mentioned above himself in his backyard garage. The guy is nuts.

Well Primedia owns basically all the crap mags we get. Originally I believe the car was supposed to be in Turbo magazine, but they must have switched it since the car is really a "show" car.

yeah an later in the issue was like a ls wit 165 or some sh1t. IT are such ricers. i got robbed by them f^ckers. on the cover i though was an s14 wit S15 HL's but it was a f^ck'n integra. their all about push'n honda's now and dissing everyone else. I.T can "SUCK A D1CK!!"

Talking about bad magazines I mine-as-well bring bad shows up as well. LOL Anyone watch the Speed Channel. High REV Tuners? (high rev ricers...)

ROFL Anyway that show makes me sick. MAYBE (and notice how I put "MAYBE" in all caps) if they hired people to host the show that knew something about cars it would be ok. That stupid kid that host the show makes me want to reach through the tv and slit his throat. Last show they were talking about this real nice clean RX-7. It was black with gray racing stripes. The kid that host the show was talking about the motor, then put the hood down and looked at the racing stripes and said "All you have to do is look at this rx-7 and see it has racing stripes, now you know he means business....." ROFL he makes me so angry. Apparently we should all get racing stripes so people know we mean "BUSINESS"

I think those 2 hot *****es that host the show know more about cars then him.......

yeah, they always bring out some nice clean car, and instead of saying "yeah its got a 4000w alpine system w/ 5 farads capacitance and 8 subs" they say something like "its got a really nice sound system" and "check out the cool wing" and "rolling on 17 inch rims" not "17 inch axis vpd's with 235/40 z rated rubber" damn i hate them.
