That sounds like a bad MAFS to me. Is the CEL on?

Sorry, I glanced at it and I thought it said 97! Have you checked the actual ignition timing on the crank with a timing light?

Did you read the codes off the computer itself? I found a FSM that informed me that the engine light on the dash does not give all the codes. The computer itself has a red and green pair of LEDs located on the back of it that flash codes to the viewer as well as utilizing the engine light on the dash. It should be located under the pass seat.

You have the same engine I do, and it is strong but has primitive sensors. That particular block has a "mixer heater" that sits beneath the TBI injection system. This "mixer heater" is the predecessor to a MAFS. It sounds like it tripped the computer and it is running in some sort of safe mode.

A Chilton's manual or Haynes will tell you exactly how. You can usually get em at any auto-parts stores, or check them out from your local library sometimes too if you don't want to buy one. I personally don't know the exact process for your Pathy. U might want to read the codes before resetting them too once you have the manual. The codes will tell you if something is wrong. I would start with that.
