Is it a Black top, with the VVT ???
If so, did you guys around here, hear of the VVT Rattle, these engines get sometimes ?
This is a known problem, with the VVT (Intake) Sproket. This makes the car sound like a Diesel Engine ! Could easily be mitaken for a Dead Bearing sound.
To check if this is the case, you have two options:
1) If you have the sproket in your hand - hold it with two hands, and try to open it (to unscrew it). You shouldnt be able to move it. If there is movment, the Sproket is ****ed !
2) With the engine idleing, while hearing the noise - disconnect the VVT solonid from the Harness, and connect it to a +/- source, to engage it - or use the Nissan Datascan, with a laptop, to engage the VVT.
As soon as you engage it, the Rattle should stop, or atlist get much quiter.
I had this, on two BlackTops with VVT. On both the solution was a new VVT Sproket.
Good luck !
