Well I was driving down Grand Central in NYC and all of a sudden a damn yellow cab in front of me stops sooo ****ing short causing me to brake hard and locking up my breaks and rear ending him...

The whole hood is all bent and looks like the radiator is gone and maybe the engine is pushed back a little and the driver's side fender is damaged too... looks like its all body work but im still ****ing screwed... since Im the one that rear ended the car and I have only liability... and my mom isnt being suported at all... all she worries about the $$$ thats gonna be going in to it cuz of the insurance and its not like shes paying for it anyway... so basically i hate my mom right now for thinking like that. She didnt even ask if i was ok until the end.

just needed to vent.... if any of you guys wanna be **** about this and post some useless posts to get me mad plz go somewhere else.

It's not the end of the world. You're an adult right? You should start acting like one, mom ain't always going to be there for you to C.Y.A. (cover your a$$). Don't hate on your mom..

yeah, you were probably tailing to close. Ideally you should always have enough distance to stop in time.

This isn't a negative post, I'm guilty of it almost everytime I go out on the road, thats how I know you were ;)

yup, apparently, they don't know nyc cab drivers... glad u r ok after all that ordeal w/ you trying to fix that car...

I do have to increase my alertness when I'm driving in the city...esp when the lincoln town car cabbies are near me...

i think, in general, nyc drivers "tailgate" anyways...

I esp hate it when parking on the street, the bumpers take a beating (they always dent my front license plate & i have to bang it str8 on a weekly basis). Will post a pic later on...

BTW, what's liability for u in NYC? I knew i didn't wanna change mine's after seeing some online quotes... i'm happy w/ ~600/year in NJ:ylsuper

looks like my weekend wasn't the only one that ended wrong...

Yeah, you guys should lay off a bit, NYC cabbies are ****ing nuts, that's one of the only states that I'd say rear ending someone may not necessarily be your fault. Good thing your ok, you'll probably come out of this ok, but broke and no mods for quite a while...

It's way not his fault those cab driver are gangsters and create accidents by their behaviour .I lived in NYC for years.

You might wanna check if the plaque on that cab was even assigend to that one cab ( maybe be able to squuze 'em for money if they are running an illegal plaque switch (which <many> do)

Haha, you can tell who is from where. Everyone from NYC area is showing sympathy, people from other areas don't even have a clue.

"You shouldn't tailgate, you shouldn't drive so close" That is literally an impossible thing to do. If there is at least 3/4 of a carlength between you and the person in front of you...someone will try to squeeze in. You basically have to tailgate in the city.

I'd like to see some of you people drive thru NYC traffic...It's probably the scariest place to drive period.

I'm glad your OK, hope everything that works out...and take Fred's advice about the plate...if its not too late.

Glad you're OK. Sucks to learn the hard way... My worst fear driving is rear-ending someone...
