My grandpa just gave me $500.00 out of nowhere. I was thinking a BRM exhaust is in order. or maybe suspension parts. Anyone know how i should spend this money? what are some really cheap helpful parts?

save for a little more and get coilovers...an exhaust isnt something you should get IMO until you do serious engine mods and it's NEEDED...putting an exhaust on before a swap is like putting a condom on before it's hard

Come on guys, have I taught you nothing?

Please don't just spend money as soon as you get it. Try this once.

Find something that you really want. Write it down. Take the money that you would spend on it, and put it in the bank. Then wait 6 months. If you still want to buy the the thing that you wanted, then go ahead and buy it. If you don't still want to buy the thing, then you just saved yourself a bunch of money.

Bah...then you'd have a slow boring unmodded car. Don't listen to this stuff. Buy yourself something for your car.

Well, ya, but then you could use the money for other things.

I have kind of "preached" this stuff to you, but I will say it again. Invest, Invest, Invest some more. You should be able to turn that $500 into a quick $1000~billion$ . All you have to do is learn the basics.

Kev, hang on a minute man. Don't you remember what I'm sure have been numerous discussions with Mike about your brake pads?

Get that thing in really good condition first. I say fix that problem and any other stuff, don't you need tires too? Get those done, should be decently easy for $500. Hawk pads and some halfway decent tires... check out your clutch too, if the other stuff isn't as bad as thought.

If those are both done, see if you can scrounge some more money and spend it wisely. Your engine is stock, right? I'd get intake before exhaust, personally, and a short shifter will make your life so much more fun.

Sweet! When I bought my first car, my grandpa gave me $200 and bought a new trunk for it (another $200). Grandparents are awesome!

Spend it well.

Save up and get a set of rims. If you already have that, then save for the suspension.

I second the Yashio Factory exhaust (less than $500 at http://www.raretrick.com).

And while MainEvent knows like 6000% more about cars than I do (not sarcasm at all), I would recommend getting the exhaust BEFORE the swap. You don't want to have that SR in there and then be dealing with a restrictive exhaust. Just like you want your Walbro and upgraded clutch in there BEFORE the swap too.

Related to that though, if you're not ever planning on doing a swap or KA-T, don't get that exhaust, it's 3", so ultimately, it needs to be on a turbo car.

Other $500 options:Springs/StrutsSway BarsTiresDriving Lessons/Track Time

Dammit Doom...I'm trying to concentrate on replying here and my eyes just keep drifting over to your silly-*** Penguins...curse them!!

Um... Come take a look at my stock portfolio once. You would be very surprised .

Just because you only live once doesn't mean that you should spend your money as sson as you get it. And if you do spend it, spend it on something that will give you a good return. Remember, cars depreciate until they are a minimum of 20 years old. So, any money you put into your car, is literally going into thin air. That is, of course, assuming that you don't race your vehicle, because that's a whole different ball game.

I agree with nametakennow. Fix anything that is broken or worn on your car. I know its boring but it will pay off later when you start doing thing things to your car and don't have to wrry about things like a broken timing chain or worn brakes. Or go get a big fat crack rock and have a good 30mins of fun. Your choice.

Ohh, so thats where he is late at night all the time. He always gets phone calls at like 2 in the morning and has to go somewhere right away. Well, whatever works for him, as long as he's rolling in the cash. LOL! Nah, just kidding.

I also vote fix your current problems. A nice set of Falken Ziex tires will run you about 250 bucks for 205-60-R15 at http://www.discounttiredirect.com with free shipping and they are very nice tires for the money. Good grip especially for an all weather tire. Then fix your brakes.

Man, I thought you won the lottery. $500 extra cash is always great. I'd save up for suspension or an engine.

buy a hole saw and some 2.25" piping, and a flange from jgstools, and cut 4 holes through your hood and weld the piping up so you have quad stacks jutting up. You should still have around $475 left after that.

Please. Ian knows more about cars than someone else on this board? Psha.

But I'm jumping on the suspension bandwagon. Save and get a nice set of coilovers
