I think we should make this post a sticky!

No, it won't work. There is no bolt up 6 speed solution, anything is possible with enough fab work and money.

s15=junk you're better of using the stronger z32 transmission.z33,getrag,t56 .. .etcany of these will work

i dont think you understand what a 6 speed will do.

not only that, but i dont think you understand that there is no such thing as a bolt on 6 speed for a RWD rb25. all of them will require something custom.

you need to do more research.

He iss going to represent Nissan in Nascar this year!! lmao J/K I would think the t56 is your only reasonable option. Its gonna take alot of fab work tho.

t56 isnt that hard to do...all gm bellhousings are the same... ATI makes an adapter plate for the RB series motors to bolt a TH350/400 or a Glide to with an 8" converter that goes for 6-800 iirc...with that plate you could easily just bolt up a t56 and call it a day...6spd for crusing and good gears that can handle the power unlike the unreliable s15 6spd not to mention good aftermarket support for it as well

And how many of those bellhousings were produced?

@JthefreekerWhat are you doing that necesitates a 6sp? If you are completely heart-set on a 6sp, then order the adapter plate and mate it to a T-56. That would be the easiest / simplest option.

Good luck getting your hands on the bell housing Carl suggested. IMO that would be the most bulletproof method, and most appealing.

With the t56, Todd you make it sound very easy lol. I wouldn't rule out the input shaft length and diameter granted you have that adapter plate for the glide. Not to mention possible t/o bearing/pressure plate issues with the t56 mating to an RB.

Lol, yeah I'm assuming this guy wants a "bolt in"... Not an easy task. I've been considering a Hyundai if my car and I fail again this year.

jthefreeker i think you should rethink this idea. it doesnt really sound like your experienced enough with cars/fabrication to consider doing a custom transmission setup.

a handful,i have one of them.. send me $5k and i'll have one at your door step next day. LOL

seriously people. most of these threads come about are because they don't know what the h3ll they are talking about or it's just purely impulse thinking.

but realistically you don't need to go to the extreme and get the 6 speed. unless you need some extra powerband to put 1000hp to the ground. for the RB 5-speed is more than enough.

I recently saw a 350Z 6-speed that was mated to an RB25, basically the guy cut the RB and Z33 bellhousings and welded the frontmost part of the RB one onto the Z33 transmission. Probably about 3 inches of it to clear the starter 'bump'. And a custom driveshaft. Thing worked though. This was on a drift car.

What he didn't tell me, was why.

The RB25 transmission is super strong and reliable. Stick with it and save yourself some headaches.

PS - I don't believe, given what you've said thus far, that your car will ever have an RB26 in it. No offense, I just don't see it happening.

That adapter doesnt just 'bolt' to TH400's, etc......you have to physically cut the bell housing off and the adapter bolts to where the pump bolts go in...

I don't think you understand that this is research. People like you get on here and talk s*** to people who are asking simple questions and tell them to do more research? What do you think they're doing
