whats wrong with the rb25 5 speed trans, next step up would be a aftermarket trans that cost like 10g which maybe cheaper than trying to rig an other suitable (strong enough) trans up. I have heard that a supra trans can be used if the input shaft and bell housing is swapped from a rb26 but a getrag is what 6k new bellhousings are not just floating around and the input shaft would require a trans rebuild.

The SR20 breaks S15 trannies, the RB26 would tear it to pieces. The SR trans has an incorrect bellhousing to mate to the RB without extensive and expensive modification. All that for a gearbox that is as strong, perhaps weaker than an RB20 five speed? Seems silly. The RB25 transmission is the best way to go short of an aftermarket box.
