im picking up a new truck on monday

its a 76 z24 5 spd 85k miles extended cab.... exterior is a little rough but the interior is AMMMAZZZING..... seems to run pretty dam good except for one thing when i got to shut the truck off it seems like its still trying to run like its fighting to shut off.....sputter sputter backfire the its off haha

any one have any ideas what could cause this?

its carbed i assume? there's an anti dieseling unit in the carb that can go bad causing a lot of problems... removing it causes the 'dieseling' that you are currently getting

and a '76 z24? wtf? swapped?

well reguardless im getting it and ill seek more help when i dig deeper into the truck thanks...

and i dont think its swapped its the motor with 8 spark plugs on a 4 cyl am i correct, that motors the z24?

and correct me if im wrong this truck is not a 76?

at earliest its an 83?

yeah that's why i was confused... the z24 didn't come in '76's

that would be.... yeah '83 at the earliest i think... the earlier 720's (80-82) had a few different features... that one is basically the same as mine minus those crazy mirrors

yea oh well i was hoping for something smog exempt but no worries

my plans are to put the old rims of my HB on there crank up the tortion bars get it in good running condition and pull off that ugly shell

well its a great start for sure... its in much better shape than mine was when i got it

steal of a price too 900 bucks and its been sitting in that lot since 1996 it only had 85 k origonal miles
