hello everyone, i have been a member here for a while with my previous car being a 300zx, however it took a poop on me and i blew my water pump and head gasket. im looking at a 2004 G35 coupe. is there anything i should look for or be alert about? has any one had any problems with these cars and how hard are they to work on?

Well try to find one with the lowest miles you can.

Depending on your budget you might be able to find a good deal 05 which comes with RevUp engine on the 6mt and the nicer updated interior.

The 04s come with Brembos on the 6mt only. The 05+ dont but theyre breaks are equivalent to the Brembos.

The Brembos do fade quicker than most.

The 04 were the less problematic, it fixed all the bugs of the 03. Only thing that sux is the interior which is not as nice as the 05+.

If you do get an 05+ make sure it still has warranty and go start an OC test. Its free and its done by Infiniti. If the results come back bad then you get a brand new handbuilt engine free!

Any questions feel free to ask.

O and dont plan on paying more than $16k for an 04, not in this economy. Now is the time to buy.

I agree with trying to find an 05 or newer. Get a dealer service history report with it too, and working on a Gcoupe is almost the same exact thing as working on your Z. Here at the dealer I've seen 100 and 120k G35 sedans and coupes, they are very well built.

I have a 04 Coupe and love it!! Twilight Blue. The seats in the 04's are more comphy to me!

From what I've seen, the OC problem is with 6MT's.

Mine uses a qt in 3k miles. I just change the oil & don't bother adding any.

Why would you send NICO members to a competing forum??

To the OP... that price to me sounds high, I'm a Canucky though and we do have different prices...but I think you can definitely do better.

I would REALLY highly recommend, if you can, save a few $$$ more and try to get an 05.Tonnes of info here on the G side if you do a search about buying an 04 etc and what to look for.

Seriously...you want the Rev up. I had an 05 and now I have an 07. Never had any type of an OC problem.

If I can jump in ...I am going to look at an 05 g35x 4dr w/50k miles on Monday asking 14900. is there any indications that the car has the OC problem? perhaps puffs of blue smoke like an old MG or Triumph. In my research it does seem like this is an isolated problem. and what price should I beat them down to? TIA

Because it's a general rule (I would hope you can see why) not to have a forum direct members to a competing forum for information. Does this not make sense to you??

Anything anyone could ever need or want is here on NICO. There are a ton of threads on oil consumption and members findings here. No need to go anywhere else.

Well if it were so easy to find info here then the OP wouldnt be asking.

Ive spent time trying to find info here and its not as easy as you say.

I understand if you cant find it post a ? but there is not that many stickys or guides on here like at other places.

Membership is free so i dont see why it would bother anyone if you mention another site. The more info that gets put out there the better.

The OP is probably asking because he didn't actually search. Like most people don't.

Although it's not hard...where did I say it was easy?

We try to kee the forum free of clutter. Lot's of info here.

I just got this this week and am still learning how to use it. At less than $150 on Amazon, I would recommend this for anyone looking to purchase a vehicle as well as to keep an eye on any vehicles that they own. A nice addition to any tool box.

Ummm...nooo...look at the name that I replied to (WhosUrBuddie). I deleted his post. I have no problem with you. You were cooperative.

He's one of the members that replied in your "driver" post about NICO not being friendly.

Although I still don't see how we aren't friendly?
